| View Full Version : Pics of My New 89 Brougham!!! DopeStar 156 06-04-04, 12:27 AM I finally got around to taking the pics today! She's in her prime! Enjoy!:bouncy: DaveSmed 06-04-04, 01:50 AM Beautiful! And you already have the leapord print fuzzy dice and pillow too.... http://cadillacforums.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif DopeStar 156 06-04-04, 02:25 AM Haha! Thanks! I have seat covers too but the seats were too damn nice to cover. I also have the leopard CD case with a "Brougham" emblem glued on. Ralph 06-04-04, 02:40 AM WOW!! Dope, that is a beautiful car, and COLOR! I haven't been following your progress lately on finding the right car unfortunately, but can you say how much you paid? If not, no prob, just curious. :) CaddylacBrougham 06-04-04, 01:21 PM dude thats a hot ride man I am really liking the color and the leopord pillow and dice. Be nice to her shes a beauty :) JAKE91 06-04-04, 04:20 PM :) SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTT! LOOKS TO HAVE BEEN WELL MAINTAINED. :coolgleam GOOD LUCK, AND CONGRATULATIONS ME BOY, YOU FINALLY DID IT! :bouncy: FASSTWOOD 06-04-04, 10:26 PM Te interior looks mint. I always loved that color combo you got... Good luck!!! Fleetwood Blaq 06-04-04, 11:07 PM Ya looking real clean. I'm trying to get my 85 like that. When I first got everything was original all the way down to the floor mats in the cab and the mats in the trunk. Plus the original spare w/cover and the jack. I got it painted so far and all I have to do is redo the top. I was plotting bout putting the factory radio back in. DopeStar 156 06-04-04, 11:34 PM Thanks everyone. I paid $2,200 for the car from a collector who has three Broughams. He was parting out with his 88, and 89 and was driving his 90 as a daily driver. The 88 was in bad shape but this 89 looked perfect. As for my new lady I intend to baby her as much as possible. I bought a car cover for bad weather months and I wash her at least once a week and apply tire polish. I'm also keeping her all stock and treating the interior with leather treatments and Armor All on the dash and the roof as well. The "Cadillac" emblem on the trunk is misplaced but I kinda like it, it balances the trunk in my opinion. She's perfect in almost everyway for those of you who haven't spotted the "REJECTED" inspection sticker. She failed for moisture in the right high beam headlight. You can see that it's darker than the other three lights. I'll have to pick up another light sometime when i have $10. If you look through the open back window you can see my dad's '01 Mustang, which is also nice. My family and their Fords..... I turned to the GM side after I got tired of fixing my Lincoln every month and noticed how my girlfriend's '86 Sedan DeVille was hardly ever in the shop. Thanks for everyone's admiration! I'll do my best to keep her shining like she is now. Stealth_Space 06-05-04, 03:16 AM She failed for moisture in the right high beam headlight. it's possible to fix moisture buildups in the lights. fairly easily too. if you have some basic tools and 10 minutes, i can explain how to do it :) Nice car by the way. here's my baby: 1980 fleetwood brougham http://www.3dap.com/hlp/hosted/stealth/hostedpictures/cadillac/personalcaddy0003.jpg http://www.3dap.com/hlp/hosted/stealth/hostedpictures/cadillac/personalcaddy0002.jpg http://www.3dap.com/hlp/hosted/stealth/hostedpictures/cadillac/personalcaddy0004.jpg DopeStar 156 06-05-04, 10:25 AM Nice. I like the black on the car, it looks real sleek! I noticed a Town Car in that pic too. I almost bought the TC but when I compared it to the Fleetwood Brougham I found the Brougham to be better and far superior in their suspension and level ride system, and I hear they're more reliable. The suspension was what killed my Lincoln and it cost over $400 to fix it. Why don't you tell me how to fix the headlight seeing as that method is free and I've got ten minutes right now. Thanks! Stealth_Space 06-05-04, 11:51 AM yeah well the towncar i've also had multiple problems with, although i've tried fixing most of it myself. i just had a nightmare of a suspension/level ride system, which took a lot of time and money to fix :( at least it's done now. but yeah, i find the cadillac to overall be a much better ride. well as far as i know, the best way to get rid of moisture, is to take out the headlights, and near the back (where the bulb comes in) drill one or two small holes. this stops water condensing inside, since it can equalize with the outside temperature and humidity. i did this on both my front signals, and they work and look mint now. while i haven't done that to the headlights, i know a few people that have, and apparently that's what dealers recommend doing too. just don't drill a big hole or anything, just one or two small ones ;) Good luck DopeStar 156 06-05-04, 12:32 PM Nice. I think I'll do that after I crack it open and swab that water out of there so I don't have to wait for it to evaporate out. In NJ if you don't come back for the sticker within 40 days they suspend your registration. So I'll have to get to work on that. Thanks again. Sorry about your Town Car situation. I've been there and I know what you're feeling dude. brougham 06-05-04, 01:47 PM Is that the other one that was sitting by the road with the one that was missing the headliner or something? It looks pretty good. I'd just get a new headlight. It takes a while for them to get like that anyway and once they've done that for a while the chrome inside there starts looking bad. It's usually just the high beams that get wet like that. elwesso 06-05-04, 10:43 PM Very nice cars, boys.... I really like the red, i am a little biased though... LOOKS REALLY NICE!!! The black is ultra steathy... Now just dont go put 24" 500 spoke spinners.. Some bigger spokes would look good, 15" is JUST TOO SMALL for that car... DopeStar 156 06-06-04, 12:20 AM That actually is the other car that was for sale parked next to the 88 with the missing headliner. I decided to buckle down and pay a little more and I'm glad I did. I tried to drill the hole in the light and it didn't work. I couldn't get the drill to go through. As for rims I intend to leave the car stock so as you see her is how she'll remain. Thanks everyone! Stealth_Space 06-06-04, 03:10 AM LOL what kind of bit were you using :p mine took like 2 seconds ;) and it worked fine. all the water was evaporated out by that night. i'm not sure though, because as i said i only did that to the parking lights, which have a plastic backing. the headlights (i didn't do any personally) have a metal backing i think. although i've heard from a lot of people that this method is what dealers use to fix the same problem Stealth_Space 06-06-04, 03:12 AM if i ever did get hydraulics or bags, i would put 13 or 14" spoked rims on it. but for now, i intend to leave the tires/rims stock ;) I like the drive height and feel, and i don't want to change it for now DopeStar 156 06-07-04, 12:31 AM The whole headlight is glass actually so if you were to drill into it it may crack. I just went to Wal-Mart today and bought two GE high beams for like $12.00, real cheap. She should pass inspection now. I thought you meant you drilled a couple of holes in the cornering lamps to keep water out. Mine are kind of yellowed from the sun I guess. I wonder if that's fixable. DaveSmed 06-07-04, 12:42 AM As silly as it sounds, give some mag wheel polish a try on the cornering lamps. Spock 06-07-04, 01:59 AM Mag polish eh? I've gotta try that too! I have been using light coats of oil. And there were some plastic cleaners for it too...perhaps even in the future I may have fun and experiment with some clear primer or something! DopeStar 156 06-07-04, 02:01 AM As silly as it sounds, give some mag wheel polish a try on the cornering lamps. On the inside, or the outside of the lamp lens? DaveSmed 06-07-04, 02:13 AM Outside. Use it just like your polishing a rim. DopeStar 156 06-07-04, 12:31 PM Wow, I'll give that a shot next time I wash. Thanks. dj8604 07-10-04, 01:56 PM Hey, I've gotta 85 fleetwood brougham, and im wondering if the tire and wheel combination off of the 1995 brougham, will fit onto mine. And if so, does anyone have any idea where i can get a set? Thanx | |
