I use a bread and butter knife. Next, block the car wheels and move the shifter to neutral. You will need to turn the key on without starting the engine so you might want to disconnect the battery. Next lift up on the rear of the wood grain shifter bezel. I have a small tool with a right angled end on it to get under the bezel and lift up. Lift up the bezel and disconnect the traction control connector and disconnect the heated seats connector. Not at the individual switches but the common connector under the Temp control module. Remove the 2 screws under the temp contol module and the one screw above the radio where the gray insert was. Move the shifter all the way back and pull the radio/temp control module out as one unit. Remove the connectors at the back which can be a PITA and the antenna and remove the unit. weephee 06-11-08, 09:45 AM To remove the front door panel 1st lower the window and then remove the window switch control by lifting up on the rear of the assembly and pulling out and disconnect the wiring harness. In behind the inside door handle is a plastic cover. Pull it out from the rear and remove it. Remove the large phillips screw. Behind the area where you pull the door to close it, is a periphorated leather cover that you need to lift up from the bottom. There is a large phillips screw that you have to remove. At the bottom rear of the door panel is another small difficult to see screw. Remove it. Using a flat bar, gently pry the bottom of the door panel away from the door. There are a number of plastic clips up the sides and along the bottom holding the door panel to the door. If you're really careful you can disengage them without breakage. Lift the door panel straight up to disconnect it from the top guide. If you want to completely remove the door panel remove the electrical connector and the cable for the door lock otherwise support the panel and do whatever it is you need to do. tman2093 06-11-08, 01:15 PM I dont recall having to remove the window control panel in a 99 STS to get the door panel off. Maybe this was revised by 03, but it may be unnnecessary for some. vacuumbed 06-11-08, 05:23 PM Thank you for the replies, I will be working on it soon. :) | |
