I am looking to put new mufflers on my LT1 FWB. I have always gone with stock mufflers on all of my vehicles but I thought I might spice it up a little. However I dont know if I will be able to find what I am looking for. I really just want to get some exhaust tone but I don't want it to sound like a hot rod all the time. I went onto the flowmaster website to hear clips they all sound much too loud for me... same with all of the stuff on the Magnaflow website.

Does anyone have any experience with any middle of the ground mufflers I could possibly put on. And maybe a video or sound clip of them. Thanks!

Jeff

Holy crap - you have a 93 9C1 and a 95 FWB?? That's cool.

Anyway, yeah, if you find any mufflers that are less restrictive than stock without making the car sound like a cruise night, please pass the info on. I have a Dynomax catback on my Caprice, and it's great, but this is a Caddy and I want to keep it that way.

Yep, the 9C1 is my Winter Warrior. The FWB is driven end of March to late November and then stored.

try the hushpower or hushpower II. even a 50 series would work fine. i have a super 40 on my '85 brougham and it's really not that loud at all thanks to the smog crap that's on there. try a 50 thats my input

I got my 93 in 2001, as my first car, and it WAS considerably cleaner than my new FWB is. I suppose I did it a disservice by moving it from NC to new england. In my case, I have eventual performance plans for the 9C1 that might make it a nice-weather-only ride, which means the Caddy performs daily/beater status. Is that sacreligious?

It seems a bit backwards to me but then again, the conditions the vehicles are in usually take precedence.

Is there any way I could hear how it sounds on your car?

The Borla on my Fleetwood sounds great. Before I got the export pipes and deleted the resonators, it sound stock at idle and only got loud at WOT.

I have Flowmaster 40 series on the Wagon and it is way too loud, but it deserves that kind of sound with the cowl hood.

Let us know what you pick! Goodluck!

Did you just get their catback kit? I really like how the borlas sound.

Yes, this is the system I purchased:

You will need to take it to an exhaust shop so they can weld 4 inches of pipe onto the midpipes where they connect to the Cats.

Ahh... we are 4 inches longer than the Impalas?

Well the wheelbase is a little under 6 inches longer. And the overall length is more like 13 inches longer. Not entirely sure where the 4 comes from.

Could have been 6 inches, it was almost 3 years ago... either way a good exhaust shop will know what to do.
