Anyone try to adapt a newer overdrive transmission from an eighties Eldo, Toro, or Riv? Nothing wrong with mine, but it would be nice to increase the gas mileage and lower rpm's on the freeway. Thanks for the help.

From what I've seen, the later automatic does not take too kindly to the torque of the 500! They were downsized significantly in strength from the original 425 transmission.:shhh:

Interesting. So it actually bolts up to the 500? I wonder if it can be strengthened...
