Hello I put a lawn mower in my trunk today and when i got it out and went to close my trunk, the trunk seemed like it was struggling to go down. it went down but i opened it to see if anything was in the way and the chrome metal "hoop" was twisted alittle and now my trunk will not go down!!! I played with both top and bottome motors and after awhile the hoop started to kinda go down but started twisting to the side and went back up. my trunk will not close all the way because of this. any idea of what the problem is? do i have to buy a whole new bottom moter? what is the correct name for this motor or a part number would be better.

when i say metal hoop i mean the part that connect the trunk lid to the car. the piece that goes up and down

Twisting to the side doesn't sound good. Those pull downs are on ebay all the time. If you're crafty you can take it apart and crank it down so you can slam the trunk shut.

Do not SLAM trunk to get it to latch. You'll knock the drive screw through the botton of the phenolic case. What year / model Cadillac? From what you describe it sounds as if the upper body shelf that supports the hinges may have separated from the body. You'll have to check this out from inside the trunk.
