Ok heres the deal I have a 75 caddy. About two year ago the high beams started acting up. I would push the button on the floor and they wouldn't come on. Then I'd be driving down the road after giving up on the idea of high beams when suddenly they would come on (Usually with oncoming traffic to make me look like a douche) So basically I haven't used my high beams in 2 years.
Well last night I go for a drive in the country and it starts to get dark. I notice my twilight sentinel hasn't turned the lights on yet and it is way too dark to be driving without headlights. I put a magazine over the little eye thing to get the lights to come on to no avail. I manually turned the headlights on :bigroll:. Well I start back home and it is really dark now so I hit the high beam switch on the floor and bam! The high beams come on with no hesitation. They switch on and switch off like they used too. On a hunch I flip the sentinel on and push the lights button to off and the lights stayed on, but the high beams once again were intermittent. All was good until about 5 miles later everything went dark out of nowhere on a very scary part of the road!
I had to turn the lights back on manually and now for the first time in ten years of ownership I am relying on myself to remember to turn off the lights on this car. My question is, what do you think might be wrong? Does anyone think the high beams malfunction and the new twilight sentinel malfunction could be related? Any ideas on a fix?
Thanks and have a great day!
