HI, let's see if I can explain (sorry but it'll be long winded)
My trunk started popping open by itself. There's a "unit" (for lack of a better word) that sits under the rear window brake light (there're about 5 relays plugged into this unit). The "unit" seems to be sending a signal to the trunk latch to open because we can hear it click before the trunk pops. My boyfriend doesn't know what the "unit" does and couldn't figure out what to do with it.
We eventually just pulled the plug that feeds directly unto the upper trunk mechanism (meaning the part that opens to unlatch the trunk). However, I still hear it clicking in the "unit". We tried pulling each and every one of the relays and the clicking continued. The trunk isn't popping open but the fact that the "unit" is still clicking (trying to open the trunk) concerns me!
So, that my first problem....it gets better...
In addition to the clicking continuing in the "unit" now when I shut the car off and get out all of the the interior lights come on (no problem that's how they're supposed to work) then they go out (again no problem) however, minutes or hours later all of the interior lights come back on!!! I eventually had to pull the fuse for the interior lights.
Here're my questions...
Is there something I can do to the "unit" to get it to stop trying to open the trunk? If yes, can you describe exactly what needs to be done?
Is there any other solution that will fix this?
If I just let the unit keep clicking is that dangerous or cause a problem?
What could be causing the lights to come on all by themselves sometimes hours after the car is shut off and door shut?
Could messing with the relays have caused this?
How do I fix this?
THANKS SO MUCH FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN PROVIDE!!!
