Please also post the detail procedures. Thanks. 84deville 06-03-04, 10:51 PM it doesn't look very hard to replace. just a few wires and bolts. take a close look at it and see what connects to what. it would be a while before anyone could come up with a detailed procedure.:) chenfred 06-04-04, 06:55 AM Look like it is not a lot of people work on this car. If you like to work on your car, you'd better buy BMW. I can get all kind of repair information from www.roadfly.com (http://www.roadfly.com) forums. Thank you for your help. If I can replace it, I will post the detail procedures. brougham 06-04-04, 12:44 PM I was going to reply with pretty much the same thing that 84deville did but he beat me to it. You should be able to figure out how to change it just by looking at it. It shouldn't be too hard. I'm guessing that repairs like that are a lot more complicated on a BMW. On some cars they stop working because of a bad ground but I don't know if these cars have that problem. You can check tho by putting a wire between a screw somewhere near it and somewhere metal on the wiper motor itself to see if that makes it work again. X_WizarD_X 06-04-04, 04:30 PM On my 87 (I assume it would be the same wiper motor), there are 3 10mm bolts that hold the motor to the firewall....You also have to loosen the 2 10mm nuts that attach to the wiper mechanism (through the firewall)...There should be 2 electrical connections, but one is a straight connection and the other is "L" shaped, so you can't screw it up...... Something else to look at also is the wiper switch on in the dash....It could be bad.....I assume they go bad frequently as PartsAmerica.com (Advance Auto Parts) sells them for around $38.00... Stealth_Space 06-04-04, 06:16 PM i just replaced my entire windshield wiper circuit, everything from the relay, switch, motor, blades, etc. the wiper motor is cheesecake to get off and replace. about half an hour max. although mine's an 80 brougham, yours should be similar if not identical ;) let me know if you need any help or have any questions ;) i'm a pro at it now :-p chenfred 06-05-04, 09:06 AM I removed it finally. The procedure: 1. Remove electrical connector. There are two, just pull them off. 2. Remove a 13 mm nut at the center of the motor. Spray WD40 around that area and use flat screw driver ply out the connect plate. Remove three 10mm screws. I do not know how to post the image, otherwise I can take the picture. Total time is 10 minutes. Be sure to spray the WD40. I strip one of the screw. It take another 10 minutes to remove it. Thank you for all of your help. | |
