I'm looking at either trying to find a 08 now to lease (since BT is available now) or wait and order a 09 with exactly everthing I want, basically everything except DI and AWD. From reading the forum people think the prices will go up a little for the 09 which isn't a big deal but I wonder if the lease rates (residuals) will be better or worst for a MY 09?

JMHO, but I would buy the Caddy well before I would ever lease it.

Residual value is very good for CTS. I'm sure 09 won't make a big difference. Based on my research, BMW 3 series has the best, CTS came in second, then the new C-Class, and the worst is the G35. It's much better than my previous generation CTS which came in toward the bottom.

Sorry, but BMW residuals just dropped about 5 percent across the board on most models! Their residuals SUCK at the moment.

Also, the G35 residuals are very comparable to the CTS residuals at the moment. However, the G35 money factors are currently FAR SUPERIOR to anything else in this class of cars.

Just FWIW, the 24 mos "buy rate" money factor on a G35 is .00126 from Infiniti Financial Services. Nothing in this market is even within shouting distance, including Bimmer (with their program allowing you to buy down the lease rate by making multiple (refundable) security deposits).

No word yet on MY09 lease info......I will bet that the residuals will stay competitive but the money factor (interest rate from GMAC) will still hover around 6-7 percent. Not great, not horrible.

Have you looked into Smart Buy instead of leasing. I have used Smart Buy on last 4 Cadillacs. Works same as lease except you can keep at end if want to pay or finance the balloon. Also normally have option to turn in 2 months early which is good if getting close to milage limit. Also sometimes call in 4 - 11 months early. Early call is optional.

Just leased an 40K 08 Mazda CX9 for 2 yrs 12k per year = 62 residual which seems pretty solid

Are you serious? 2 year residuals should be hovering around 70 percent, not 60.

Before the May 08 BMW crash, their 2 year residuals were around 73 percent.
