Can our CTS play SACD? My father-in-law thinks Spanish Harlem by Rebecca Pidgeon is the greatest techical recording of all time. I want to get the highest quality recording I can and play it for him in the CTS. I looked for a 5.1 dvd of this but no dice. Only could find a SACD.
Any thoughts?

No way. SACD cannot be played in a CTS. Totally different technology.
EDIT: I guess I should say that pure SACD will not play. There ARE "hybrid" discs that will play either on a SACD player or ANY CD player.
BTW, I have Pidgeon doing Spanish Harlem on regular AAC file from itunes in stereo. It's good, but probably not comparable to 5.1

I have it on CD and AAC, which I think sound great...but my father in law is one of those audiophiles who poo-poo's downloadable music!
I've been looking for some DVD-Audio but the selection is pretty slim.

I have DVD-A in my Acura and quite frankly - it's a poor application in a car.
The rear speakers are mounted up high and pointed at the back of my head. At first I kept turning around to see where the sound was coming from. The center channel is nice, but the "surround" feature is unrealistic and over processed.
I dont remember the last concert I was at where there was sound coming from behind me....Some recordings are better than others, but all still appear to be over processed IMHO.
Audio recordings are best in 2 channel. 5.1 is great for home theater.

As you said, "IMHO." I was able to experience it and thought it was absolutely great sounding(Eagles "Hotel California").

As Southern stated in another thread, "there's more than on e correct way to listen to music." So, your opinion is deffinately valid.
To answer the actual question, yes it will play them.

It will play the SACD or the hybrid? Just trying to find out before I plunk down some money on the disc...

It will play the CD version that is also recorded on the disc. It will NOT play the SACD version.
They are both on one disc.
One UNDER the other.
