: lawyers are useless. need radio fixed
well, contacted a lawyer and threatened to take the company that screwed up my 2001 seville sls radio install. installer sweet talked the lawyer into believing it was basically MY fault for the botched job. so it comes down to me having to buy a gmos-04 FOR 150 DOLLARS and a secondary harness for 40 bucks. they said they would fix the flashing dash, keyless entry not working, battery drain from interior lights constantly on,etc, etc. what i am pleading for is some help from the audio god named CADILLACSTS2003. I bought a subscription to ALLDATA and printed all the wiring diagrams. i would like to know if there is ANY information anybody can give me to tell them in advance what needs to be done the right way. CADILLACSTS2003 i may be driving out to pennsylvania real soon if they do it to me again. thanks to all on forum. i learn something new and helpful every time i check out the site.

your car should use the gmos-06 if you keep the bose or standard amped system
the gmos-03 to keep chimes and bypass the amp system
what exactly do you need/want done?
and i have access to GM ESI
i have every wire pin out for that car for anything and gm specs as well
i told them that i needed the gmos-06 according to you guys, but they insist on the gmos-04. i really don't know what particular response i was looking for. just the common mistakes that installers make while trying to wire it up. they wouldn't tell me what the other harness was. sorry took so long to reply, wasn't expecting such a fast response. as it stands, i keep my back seat in my spare bedroom, because i disconnect my battery every time i get out of the car. i am sure they won't fix it right this time either. and we go round, and round, and round

your decision on wat youd like to do
i will be in Chicago the 3rd-10ths of June if thats closer?
i guess i would like to know what you think about this. i took the car to another installer to get some ammo for the lawyer. the installer said that the radio was tied into the ignition wire for power. he said that was wrong. i saw a post somewhere on here that said that if you did that , it would be the cause of the dash flashing airbag warning. it had something to do with the amps going to computer, and if it reads the wrong amps, it sets airbag message.also how do you hook it up the the R.A.P? i have spent countless hours scouring this site, but the search engine it uses needs some work.
chicago is only 3 1/2 hours away. sounds like it might be doable. i am going to give them a chance probably tomorrow or friday. and i'm sure i will be in contact with you on here begging for your help.

when running an aftermarket system
the less of the stock wiring you use
imho the best would be remove EVERYTHING and start from scratch
and tieing into the ignition shows how retarded they are there is a RAP fuse for the ignition power wire, and the battery for the constant
ya know, you will probably have to drive through toledo on your journey. 80/90 turnpike.

4.25 a gal
im flyin there
if you want this done right ill do it but you need to make some choices
1st are you replacing the hu only or the whole system?
i already had them put in a kenwood kdc-x492. with my audiobahn amp for a 10 sub box in trunk. all i did was replace the door speakers with some mid range ones. that was part of the installers argument about it being my fault. i also had them run extra speaker wires to the back for some 6 by 9s. but the wires they ran are running through the front fader control
i am willing to spend some cash to get it done right, total rewire if necessary. also would like to replace front dash center speaker to something good. how hard is that to do. and how long should something like that take all together?
05-27-08, 10:59 PM
if you want
like i said
i can do it
imho this is what id plan on
1 pair of infinity ref 3.5 speakers for the dash (you will lose your center channel) 70.99
1 pair of infinity 6.5 speakers for the rear doors 109.99 (idk why you needed 6x9s they wont fit anywhere in that car)
a nice spool of 12 gauge wire 20 bucks
gmos-06 100 bucks but since we are bypassing your factory amp and using new speakers the gmrc-03 is what you need for 100 bucks
infinity 4 channel amp 250 bucks for the speaks
560 bucks for everything then about 150 for me to put it all in (which is way below list for this kinda job)
ill use w.e equip you have already
i also HIGHLY recommend amping your interior speaks if you dont your gonna have issues running more than 4 speakers on a hu ment to only push 4
amping the interior speakers? isn't that what the infinity 4 channel is for? i have an audiobahn a-4002t. pretty good amp. i have it running the sub right now. also have a soundstorm f250-2 amp that nwas given to me. were you going to use the infinity amp for the sub?
nevr mind, i read your post slowly this time, makes sense.
05-27-08, 11:12 PM
the infinity amp i listed is the 4 channel amp for the speaks
you need a 4 channel amp to run the door speaks the dash speaks id run off the hu (they couldnt handle the amped power)
soundstorm is crap so i wouldnt waste your time with that
let me know when you are available
05-27-08, 11:14 PM
its your decision from here
if you want to do it then i gotta know so i can free up the weekend or sumthing since i work about 60 hrs a week
we can buy all the equip at the best buy by my house and i can install it all in my garage it should take about 2-3 hours for a complete install (assuming i dont have to tear down alot of what the other installers did)
shyt i forgot youll also need another amp kit for the 4 channel amp which is like 40 bucks
i am afraid that may be the case here, but i want it done right and you seem to be very knowledgeable. i am tired of having to bend over and hook the battery up. i've had some back surgeries, and it is very painful
05-27-08, 11:21 PM
the only thing i cant get is the gmrc-03 no place stocks it so if you want that route bypassing and using another amp (best choice) then thats what to get
if you keep your stock amp youll need the gmos-06 (you wont need to buy the 2nd amp kit or the 4 channel amp) but you could have some issues with powering since your interfacing the new radio with the OE equipment
hey cadillacsts2003. i made up a cart on crutchfield tonight and this is what i'm looking at.
2 pair infinity ref.6022si 6 1/2 $ 99.99 each
1 pair infinity ref 3022cf 3 1/2 $ 69.99
1 infinty ref. 475a $ 249.99
total $ 519.96
the 3 1/2 speakers had a warning from crutchfield in the shopping cart about fitment, and i tried to buy 100 feet of their 12 gauge wire but i couldn't get it to ring up more than 1 foot at a time. will buy locally. i purchased the gmrc on ebay on the 28th so should be here any day. see anything wrong with the order? do i have the right stuff?
05-31-08, 12:18 PM
how much are you paying for shipping?
i believe it is free shipping
05-31-08, 01:11 PM
ill get a price at work today (best buy) on all that stuff and let you know which is the better deal
05-31-08, 03:20 PM
i can get it all for about 500 bucks using my ways
however this way i cannot give you a recipt (i cant lose my job that way)
+150 for me to install
650 total all said and done
i should probably go the crutchfield route, just in case of a burned up amp or something. they have a decent return policy. we should only need the wire then. does everything else look good?
05-31-08, 06:30 PM
how long is there warranty though?
it is a 30 day free shipping , no questions asked return policy. the reason i said to go through them is because if i do need to return something, i will have some documentatiion. if i try to return it to my best buy in toledo, i'm sure i will need a receipt. i would like to save a couple bucks and go your route. just checked best buy and looks like if i need to return something i need a receipt, packing list, and an I.D. and looks like it is 30 days also.
05-31-08, 10:02 PM
yup on 30 days
but its an automatic termination here at BB if i use my discount for anyone other than direct fam
hence why you cant have the receipt, i mean you could, but if YOU rather than I returned anything, id be fired
if i order the stuff through accommodation (same story but i dont buy directly from bb) i can actually get the stuff for about 450 lol
anyways yea you buy the stuff and bring the agreed 150 cash for me and well get it done.
hey cadillacsts2003, i have all the stuff for the install. i also got a 100 foot roll of 12 gage steren speaker wire. before we do this i am curious to know if you would be able to put in a remote start also. if you would be able to, which kind is compatible with a 2001 seville sls, easiest to install, best range, basically what would you recommend. thanks, 12pack
06-15-08, 09:45 PM
remote on that car is a nightmare and thats sumthing that would have to be done in store as i cant accept the liability of actually shorting systems in your car to be save
ok no remote start then, i don't want to open that can of worms. i just need to get this radio fixed, i am tired of not having a back seat for passengers and not having the keyless entry. do you still have my email?
06-16-08, 01:00 AM
nah probably not
we can figure sumthing out asap
06-17-08, 02:37 PM
i just wanted to check something
did you buy the 4 channel amp kit to power the amp which includes the 2 pairs of rcas?
also did you get the GMOS-06 or the GMRC-03?
been a long time since we planned this all out and i was just running some numbers and such and i know at BB this is at least a 500+ job
4 ch amp install 84.99
Moblie in dash install 149.99
Factory Amp Integration 34.99
1 pair speaks 41.99 *(times 3 for 3 pairs 1 in dash 1 in front doors 1 in rear doors)=125.97
granted im not gonna charge you anything near that just planning it out, trying to figure how much time ill need and what we both agree would be fair payment
didnt get your email on the equip you bought as im at work and theres a filter for yahoo mail so please post it here and we can go from there....
sorry for the confusion!
