View Full Version : CTS seems to attract road trouble? proexpert 05-27-08, 07:06 PM I don't drive the CTS much, it's Ms. Cathy's (the lovely wife). She is repeatedly telling me how people are really rude to her on the road, more so than when she was driving her Honda. People following real close, others pull out then go slow, others wanting to race (she dusted a few :tisk:), on and on. It's your basic stuff that happens all the time, but does it happen more often when driving a nice new black Cadillac? I had to ask, forgive me please, yes dear. :D ngiardina 05-27-08, 09:36 PM I am honestly noticing the same thing. Audis, Bimmers, and C-Classes all on my arse, then blowing by me at 100mph. I don't really know, maybe they are upset that there is a new kid on the sport-sedan block. Maybe it is Cadillac envy, who knows? WhtDmnd04CTS 05-27-08, 11:29 PM i have alot of people staring at me.. especially when i park and get out of the car
it's like i have a tattoo on my forehead that says 'f*ck you* or something haha
they are all just jealous of our cars.. i would be too!! badblkcts 05-27-08, 11:34 PM i get the same look from others on the road. i took my cts badge off the trunk, so some people may not know what kind of caddy it is if they are not too familiar with cars, or someone may not know if it is a v6 or v8. i like to keep them guessing. haha Southern 05-27-08, 11:35 PM The car gathers a lot of attention. Especially when it is pristine (which is most of the time). I have not had any problem with other drivers. Then again, I drive fast, but not aggressively. Eldo1953 05-28-08, 12:55 AM Any Cadillac will attract more attention than a Honda. A Honda is an appliance, a Cadillac is a Cadillac. lordbaby 05-28-08, 03:15 AM beat those mofos, i KO a Porsche 911 last time in the 2 lanes traffic on my way to Malibu even with 6 passengers (included me) on the CTS. sure his car is way faster, but too bad he doesnt have the skill and anticipation. my bro was next to me and he waved his hand and said bye when i passed that monkey head. i dont initiate any race (to keep my CTS well maintain, and understandable that racing aint CTS's specialty), but when they lose they better be sorry. Who give a damn about Honda? Big smile; isn't that one of the reasons you bought it for, in the first place. snicker. I agree with all that's been said. I'm 60 years old and have had many cars in my lifetime. My CTS draws as much attention as the Corvettes I've had. I am constantly being asked to see the interior and spend more time talking about the car than the time it takes me me to fill it up with gas when I'm at gas stations. I have a blue chip with the optional summer tire package that has the fog lights. Its INCREDIBLE !!
Mike lordbaby 05-28-08, 08:53 AM People following real close, others pull out then go slow
may be they just wanna have a good closer look at this hot car? da_thrilla 05-28-08, 11:38 AM Hah!! Imagine what im going through here in Europe where Cadillac is pretty much unknown...weird mysterious looks...
Forget UFOs...CTS is the new mystery. Black08CTS 05-29-08, 03:16 AM Someone wanting to race isn't rude, it's a compliment. My CTS gets a alot of attention, but its all been good so far. The gas attendant dude at Costco just told me today how much he likes the car. lordbaby 05-29-08, 05:34 AM this afternoon a new honda pilot drove rudely and almost tried to hit my car front behind but before the race can even begin i hv already dusted it... LOL
and then the employee at chevron volunteer to put gas for me tonight, he came out locked the store and ran to the pump i was using lol.. chatted about the car and gas stuffs Steve, Maybe it's the Yosemity Sam mudflaps you put on that is getting people cheesed off at her loveliness. proexpert 05-29-08, 01:33 PM I will install those right after lunch. LOL Maeztro 05-29-08, 07:20 PM I don't mean to be the douche-bag of the forums, but let me know when you're racing european imports on the road so I can tell my wife not to drive with our 2 kids...I don't think street racing worked out all that well for Hulk Hogan's son... 2laidback 05-29-08, 07:33 PM My wife drives this car and she has not encountered any dirt bags. She claims to get positive comments and admiring looks. Of course I may be partial, I think she is the good looker!:yup: lordbaby 05-29-08, 08:17 PM My wife drives this car and she has not encountered any dirt bags. the gas guy likes it much :bouncy: WNBAMiamiSol 05-30-08, 09:02 AM Down here in South Florida, I always get people in Japanese imports wanting to "race" a nice car. I guess the dealerships that sell 'em those cars give 'em a speech about how hot their little rice burners are! For the last 12 years, I'd been driving new Porsches down here and those are dirt bag magnets. People want to cut you off and show they are faster than you. I have never felt the need to prove my car was faster.
I will have to post my black CTS 3.6 DI experience after I take delivery this afternoon. (The dealership is replacing my 8-day-old steering vibration plagued CTS with another new one.) Have had very similar experiences here with a previous M3 and now my CTS (which I like much more than the M3!) WNBAMiamiSol 05-30-08, 11:38 AM I was interested in an M3 and the new BMW 135 with the M3 engine & suspension. I liked the 135 better than the M3 (maybe because it doesn't have the M3 logos to attract idiots). However, the closest BMW dealership to me (including their service department) is horrible. I didn't want to deal with them in any aspect.
Both the 135 and the CTS were about the same price. Insurance is the same. It was a big plus that the CTS uses regular gas and that an oil change won't cost me $327. I definitely like the CTS styling better. The CTS I had for the last 8 days, I couldn't say anything as to the handling/maneuvering due to the intense steering vibration. I couldn't do over 55ish. I am looking forward to getting the 'replacement' CTS this afternoon! Maeztro 05-30-08, 07:05 PM I was interested in an M3 and the new BMW 135 with the M3 engine & suspension. Here is my take on the M3 I had...Bad-ass driving car...horrible commuting car (not that it was meant for that anyways)...After the novelty of the performance wore off a little, I was left with something that felt like a race-car. Not to mention German interiors aren't exactly know for their high tech wizardry. Well put together car, but in the end, just not an every day car. I find the CTS much more suited for both... WNBAMiamiSol 05-31-08, 07:16 AM Picked up my new (no steering vibration) CTS late yesterday afternoon (woohoo!) and no one wanted to race me on my 55 mile drive home. Should I be worried??? lordbaby 05-31-08, 10:23 AM they will race you usually on highways and at night, probably not in traffic jams like in LA WNBAMiamiSol 06-01-08, 07:52 AM Got my windows tinted yesterday morning, so now my CTS is all black and yes, had 2 drivers cut me off yesterday evening as a result. urbanski 06-01-08, 08:57 AM Got my windows tinted yesterday morning, so now my CTS is all black and yes, had 2 drivers cut me off yesterday evening as a result.
congrats:) Got my windows tinted yesterday morning, so now my CTS is all black and yes, had 2 drivers cut me off yesterday evening as a result.
Isn't that a bit of 'pretzel' logic; what could possibly connect to two events. Congrats on the tints though. lordbaby 06-02-08, 07:17 AM actually what i think is that, the CTS looks so nice and at the time it is a extra heavy car where one can judge by its look easily.. so i guess people wont race this car but have a nice look at it because i personally wouldn't race a race that you know you will sure win unless you are forced to. By the way, notice it or not some older CTS (like those before 2008) on the road actually try to race you or try to block your way or sth similar.. what are they thinking? Are those out of jealousy or what. I think that you should be proud instead because we are both cadillac! WNBAMiamiSol 06-02-08, 07:45 AM Lordbaby - I think you are right. It's a jealousy thing and instead they should be proud of what they are driving as well.
Do you think aggressive drivers cut off elderly drivers if they can see ( no tints) they are elderly? I don't. I think the tints keep other drivers from seeing who is driving and they probably imagine something else. BTW, I'm not elderly!

You also don't answer your private messages....... WNBAMiamiSol 06-02-08, 03:42 PM Southern - I tried to answer but got a notice that I am blocked from private messages until I have 25 posts here :(
I am getting there! Anyway, no, not a player, but yes, a fan. Did some digital photography for their website as well. Never missed a home game in their 3 years and traveled along to Orlando and New York (I don't fly!). I still have a few player friends I stay in touch with as well as a couple coaches. RhiNoKiLL 06-02-08, 11:21 PM I really doubt our CTS can beat a 911. The 911 either stalled or wasn't even racing you lol at that. Southern 06-02-08, 11:44 PM Sol, I keep forgetting that silly minimum number of posts thing. I still try to keep up with Ruth Riley, but it is hard. WNBAMiamiSol 06-03-08, 07:17 AM I knew Ruth and her mom. Nice folks. Ruth was really shy.......he mom was a trucker. Lost touch with them when she went to Detroit. NJRonbo 06-04-08, 06:17 AM I was at a light next to a Lexus G35. It smoked me! I was
amazed how much faster that car was able to accelerate. I
tried to keep up but the driver was obviously trying to make
a point by speeding at 80 miles an hour in a 50 zone. |
