Recently on my 1978 Cadillac Coupe DeVille, the driver's side window hasn't been working. The switch works, and after using a voltmeter, I determined that the voltage wasn't reaching the window motor. This lead me to then believe that maybe I had a blown fuse. Does anybody know the fuse location for the window? Or is it controlled in the circuit breaker. Any suggestions would be useful. Thanks in advance, Lee

No fuse for windows. Power goes thru a 30 amp circuit breaker. If breaker overheats, NONE of the windows work. So, either you have a faulty master switch or a broken wire not allowing voltage to the window motor. The voltage to the motor is, I believe, the fat orange wire at the master switch. You should have voltage there with key on. Then probe the other wires at the switch with a test light to verify voltage goes on/off with the driver switch moved back and forth. Post back with results.

I have a simiiar problem and was wonderingif it might be the same thing.

I have a 2000 DTS that the window, power side view mirror and the memory buttons all went out and the seat will not go to the memorized seat when I use the power unlock on the remote BUT the seat does move automatically to the exit position when I take the key out, and bith buttons are on the door.

Do you think it might be the same situation?

Well when I put more work into it, I found out that the problem was in the connector on the window motor. I messed with it a bit and it works on and off. It seems to stall when it goes all the way up, so I've just been putting it 3/4 of the way. With the top down for summer though it shouldn't be too big of a deal. But if it messes up again to the point where I can't fix it again I'll have to pay $65 for a new motor.

Big difference between a 1978 and a 2000 Cad. Diagnosis is approx the same. With a test light, determine if power is at the affected switch with key on, car off. If no power at switch then I would suspect broken wires where they pass thru the body to the door at the door hinge area.

Are the motor and regulator parts the same for all cadillacs?

No, my 84 wont fit an 86. Every body design change usually means new regulators, switches and sometimes motors.
