View Full Version : dual exhaust T_Dogg8 06-02-04, 11:49 AM anyone know of a dual exhaust system for an '02 EXT?? i've been looking at the corsa touring system, but today i saw one that had exhaust coming out both sides. it looked pretty cool. either that or maybe coming straight out the back. any ideas?? anyone know of a dual exhaust system for an '02 EXT?? i've been looking at the corsa touring system, but today i saw one that had exhaust coming out both sides. it looked pretty cool. either that or maybe coming straight out the back. any ideas??
By what I know Corsa has 2 exhaust tips but both come out on the same side. The system that has 2 exhaust tips coming out from both sides is the Borla exhaust. However regarding the Borla Ive read in this forums that there are some annoying noises when cruising in the 65-75 mph. However I cannot confirm that since I havent owned one of such systems.
Mejia T_Dogg8 06-02-04, 02:09 PM hmm.....i heard that too. i kind of like the look of the dual exhaust though.
i probably have some time to think about it though. the $800 price of the corsa touring means i'll probably have to wait a little while. just too many things to do and no money :) I had a Borla dual system on a Suburban, one of (4) Borla systems I have owned, they all had a slight to medium resonance at speed, on cars with stick shifts you can get around it, but not with automatics. I have owned 4 Corsa systems as well, I have had 3 systems on my Corvettes and I have Corsa on my Escalade, no resonance at any speed with the Corsa. T_Dogg8 06-02-04, 02:54 PM i just don't want to ruin the 'functionality' of my truck. after all, it is a luxury vehicle.
i don't know what i'm going to do. i guess i'll probably end up with the corsa system. but i want to get wheels or dvd first. Borla system does look cool with duals, I just did not like the interior noise on longer trips. :( T_Dogg8 06-02-04, 03:00 PM yeah.....my thoughts as well. after awhile that gets anooying. i want to have the nice look, nice sound on acceleration, nice sound on the outside, and virtually no sound on the inside. and of course, i want it for cheap :) i just don't want to ruin the 'functionality' of my truck. after all, it is a luxury vehicle.

I have the same opinion as you. Being a luxury vehicle the last thing one wants inside the truck is exterior resonance. That is why when I upgrade my trucks exhaust system I would go with Corsa Touring Exhaust. I just want a deeper tone on the outside with no resonance at all on the inside. :)
Mejia Machine 06-02-04, 04:01 PM I had the Borla dual unit on my escalade up until last year. It resonated too much for my taste. I replaced the Borla muffler with a magnaflow and it's so much better. Now I have the Magnaflow hooked up to the Borla pipes - looks and sounds very nice. T_Dogg8 06-02-04, 04:29 PM hmm....hadn't thought about that. how much is the borla system and how much would different mufflers be? T_Dogg8 06-02-04, 04:29 PM also, can you buy just the mufflers from the corsa touring system? I was able to buy the Touring muffler when I wanted to replace the Sport muffler. It wasn't the most economical method of trying to achieve a nice looking / performing / sounding unit. Total cost for both the original Borla system and replacement Magnaflow was about $800. If i could do it all again I would have gone with Corsa. But i have to say that the dual pipes from the Borla look a ton better than Corsa's single side exit. jahngga 06-03-04, 05:15 AM yeah.....my thoughts as well. after awhile that gets anooying. i want to have the nice look, nice sound on acceleration, nice sound on the outside, and virtually no sound on the inside. and of course, i want it for cheap :)
Tdogg,
The word "cheap" doesn't apply with Escalades, IMO. I mean c'mon bro, you just spent $50,000+ on your ride. I'm sure you're weren't expecting anything to come cheap with these type of plush rides right?!
Anyways, I know what you mean though. After buying my Caddy along with rims, I found myself digging alot deeper into them pockets!:bonkers: T_Dogg8 06-03-04, 09:00 AM well....the cheap comment was sarcasim because i basically want the best of everything from my exhaust and i'm not sure it's possible. luckily i didn't have to pay 50 grand for my truck. i bought it used and with the cadillac certified used warranty. i know all about paying big bucks for something. i traded in an eclipse that was highly modified. and the stuff for it was at least as expensive and in a lot of cases more expensive than caddy stuff.
but machine, if you think about it, you got the look of the dual exhaust and a good sound, and paid the same price as the corsa touring system. where did you get the borla system?? do you have any pics??
hey hcvone, how much were the corsa mufflers and where did you get them?? Machine 06-03-04, 12:02 PM I bought my Borla system form Frank Kent Cadillac in Ft. Worth, TX. He has an aftermarket facility called the Pit Stop. His shop also installed my supercharger - all under warranty!
Here's a picture of the rear of my Escalade - it's not the best example, though T_Dogg8 06-03-04, 12:49 PM that's a nice look. but the cheapest i can find the borla exhaust is about 900. and then i'd have to find other mufflers. the borla has one central muffler, did you replace that or did you add mufflers other places??
do you have any contact info for that dealer?? Machine 06-03-04, 03:21 PM I replaced the Borla muffler with a single (dual in / dual out) Magnaflow. The Magnaflow is about 2X the size of what the Borla is. Minor treaking had to be made to the Borla pipes to make the new muffler fit, but the end result has been great.
I think I bought my Borla for somewhere aroung $689...almost 2 years ago. Borla is very proud of their exhaust's! Can't beat that dual exhaust look. :) T_Dogg8 06-03-04, 03:28 PM i do like that look but borla retails it at almost 1200 and 900 is the lowest i've seen it. so if anyone has a better place to buy it, let me know. jahngga 06-04-04, 05:29 AM I bought my Borla system form Frank Kent Cadillac in Ft. Machine,
Is the exhaust noise loud in the cabin? I want to put dual side exit exhuasts too but afraid that the cabin will get too loud. I have the 2wd 5.3L so I'm not sure what setup/brand I should work with... Machine 06-04-04, 11:11 AM It's no longer loud inside my cab since I installed the magnaflow but it was very loud when I had the original Borla. My Magnaflow resonates a tiny bit in the 3000 RPM range - but the majority of my driving is in the 1900 - 2500 range while on the highway and you can't even tell the Magnaflow is back there. Whay don't you get a exhaust shop to custom bend you some pipes simliar to the borla pipes so you can get your own muff and have dual exhaust look? Machine 06-04-04, 11:38 AM True that. Order your tips from Borla and install a Magnaflow or something else free flowing (No Flowmaster's, please). The only problems you may encounter are that the pipes won't be stainless and the bends won't be mandrel. You could get all of this done for a few hundred $ :lildevil: I had a custom stainless steel dual exhaust system made for my 00' Suburban using Borla mufflers (that I supplied) that was hooked to long tube headers (which I installed) and it cost an arm and leg, but it was beautiful looking. T_Dogg8 06-04-04, 02:11 PM hmm, that might be worth looking into. i'll let you guys know.
hcvone, where did you get your touring mufflers?? did you buy them straight from corsa?? ItsAdam1 06-04-04, 02:14 PM The other option I did.
When I had my 95 Impala SS my first mod was new mufflers. Well instead of ordering a new kit with new mufflers, I ordered the exhaust pipies that where in the kit seprate.I had O'rieley (sp?) order the pipes b/c the carried walker/dynomax exhaust systems. I don't know if borla will just sell just the pipes but call them,
HTH T_Dogg8 06-04-04, 02:23 PM another really good idea. thanks guys.
i'll try that too. |
