yep. any synthetic should do, though, although mobil 1 is GM recommendation. lost of oil threads here to search through.

Any synthetic oil with the GM4718 "Corvette spec" will work (5W30 is preferred).
CTS engine is a fine piece of engineering and as such requires equally fine oil (or rather deserves it ;)). Seriously, as others posted most of the synthetic oils will do as long as they meet the GM specs.
I have been using Mobil 1 for a number of years now and have had no problems with any on my engines. As a matter of fact the VQ engine performed better at 94,000 miles then when new….
I see no reasons to go to mineral based oils now. Saving a couple of $$ every few thousands of miles is not worth it…

its called proper maintenance
walk into a dealer and say yea i red lined my CTS for 20 minute and blew the transmission and watch them laugh when you ask if your warranty will cover it....
same basis here when you walk in and say my engine is having issue and i didnt put the right oil in...

It doesn't have to be "Mobil 1", you can use another brand but it should meet the GM specification.
Always look on the back of the bottle for this specification: GM4718M
If it doesn't have that specification it does not meet the warranty requirements and a warranty claim on a failure related to using the wrong lubricant can cause denial of that claim.

The CTS has no oil cooler. The spec was developed to keep the engine from blowing up when the oil temp goes out of sight on a summer day. GM4718 describes a synthetic oil that has a particular resistance to breaking down in extreme circumstances. This is not arbitrary or capricious.
No warranty worries if you let the dealer change your CTS oil & filter during the first 4yrs/50Kmiles of ownership. Besides...Cadillac dealers need yachts, second homes, and European vacations just like the rest of us! ;)
