Today is a nice high 60s day here in RI. But my climate control outside temp display tells me it's 62. It has read other things since I've owned the car, but today it seems to be stuck at 62 (or it is just like 7° low and I never noticed until today). Is there anything other than the ambient temp sensor in front of the radiator that I need to suspect? Is there any logic to the way the system works, like "holding" the temp if the car's been sitting in the sun until it determines the temp reading is accurate? Or is it just WYSIWYG?
Looks like a replacement temp sensor is about $40-$45, which isn't too bad. But it's adding up fast.
EDIT: Went outside just now. I unplugged the sensor. Then I started the car and it read 49°. Seems like it should read something far higher or lower than that when unplugged. Then I plugged it back in while the car was running. Went back to check the dispaly - 49°. Shut car off and restarted - 49°. So there definitely is logic in the system. It doesn't just display whatever the sensor is reading. Is there a way to reset? I will check out the FSM tonight...
