I did some searching and reading up on this forum for the past two days but my searching skills are at par at best. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a RWD 95 cadillac bourgham and the motor is shot. Its the LT1. So far i have been having bad luck in finding a resonably priced (within my budget) donor car. I was thinking about swapping over to the LO5 motor. I can find this motor easier and cheaper. I know this year car had both motors but i am unsure if they are both a direct swap or not. If not, could you please explain why.

I know the heads are different and i am trying to stay away from having to take them off a motor. I know the ECU's are different but wondering if any of this really matters or If the computer in the car will run a LO5 and if all other things will bolt up.

I have also posted this is the 5.0 and 5.7 section.

I am a fan of the L05. My 93 9C1 has one. It's great. But you don't want to put an L05 in a 95. It is not a direct swap. Too many differences to list...

Also, I don't know why you would have so much trouble finding a donar car.

Any 94-96 B-body would have one, except Caprices equipped with the L99 (sedans only - and just because it is a 9C1 doesn't mean it has the LT1 either).

Seriously:
94-96 RM sedan and RM wagon (all)
94-96 Caprice wagon (all)
94-96 Caprice sedan (LT1 was optional in everything except the SS, but they are around)
94-96 FW (all)

I can see you having a problem finding a donar FW but the others??

I'm looking for a 4L60E transmission right now. If I find a donor for us, I'll post here. What's your location?

The problem is the electronics, computer, etc. You could always go backwards and low-tech, but there's NO problem finding a good LT1 and for cheap, really. There's a lot of them out there, and you won't have all the issues of incompatibility, trying to figure out sensors, wires, etc. that are in the car but won't jive with the older engine.

It would be an odd swap, and the L05 is a very nice engine, but the complications in trying to back-swap one into an LT1 car not worth trying, IMHO. I'm sure many here could even help locate an LT1 for you.

Go here and post in the Parts For Sale/Wanted section:

That's pretty much B/D body heaven with people from everywhere, and there's a lot of people in your area at least, who can help.
