View Full Version : Problems Removing Z-2 Pro Cadillac CTS 08 05-22-08, 11:54 PM First time Zaino user and I have a greasy film from Z-2 Pro. I used the following steps:
1. wash with Dawn
2. Z-5 pro (one ounce with 5 drops zfx) used 3/4 oz to cover the car,
easy removal & looks great!!!
3. Z-8 Grand Finale Spray
4. Z-2 pro (one ounce with 5 drops zfx), used 3/4 oz to cover the car, but
there is a greasy film on the car.
5. waiting to apply Z-CS clear unit film is removed.
Temp is 70 degrees low humidity in garage.
Anybody have this problem before?
Thanks ccclarke 05-23-08, 12:38 AM Z-2 should not be greasy at all. If you mixed it properly with the ZFX Flash Cure and applied it thinly, it should haze over in about fifteen minutes. Shoot an email over to Sal at Zaino and he'll point you in the right direction.
Good luck!
CC badblkcts 05-23-08, 08:25 AM i never used the grand finale spray before z-2. that has a oily texture to it. there might be left over residue from it. I'll bet it's the Grand Finale Spray. I've got two bottles of it and it always streaked no matter how little I used. Don't wait for Zaino to respond to an email. I tried Sal three different times over a period of weeks to find out what's up with the Grand Finale Spray- and that after spending several thousand dollars over 4 years detailing my 03 Z06. I'm now a satisfied user of Adams Products in major part because no one would respond to my email to Sal at Zaino. Not only are the products great, but the company and the people are customer responsive and appreciate your business. My black 07 Z06 loves the stuff.
To fix your current problem, I'd use some regular detail spray with a good microfiber towel. I don't use all the different products (just one coat of Z2), but I do have a suggestion for you that works for me when any wax, including Zaino, streaks or does not wipe dry easily.
Take two clean micro fiber towels. Get one wet and then wring out as much as you can so it is mostly just damp. Go over each section of the car one at a time with the damp one and follow that section immediately with a dry towel. The surface of the car should have VERY light dampness on it when you wipe if off with the dry towel. I've always had the streaking come right out by doing that. I also second this advice. However, I have found that Zaino and several other products, leave a "cloudy haze" that is sometimes only noticeable under certain lighting conditions.
Zaino isn't a bad product for the weekend detailer but if you detail vehicles everyday, your love for they're products will quickly fade. Cadillac CTS 08 05-24-08, 10:58 PM Thanks for the advice. I went ahead and applied the Z-CS clear over the film which fixed the problem.
I see some of you guys don't care for Zaino but it gives a nice wet looking finish. Does the polish really last as long as they claim? ....Does the polish really last as long as they claim?
I"ve done a couple of vehicles with one coat of Z2 that still was doing it's job after two years. The answer is "yes". Southern 05-25-08, 07:05 PM Some people have personal favorites but can't communicate without attacking and others have vested interests.
Zaino is THE #1 polish on the Corvette forums and has been for years. There is a reason for that.
I generally redo my zaino after 9 mos.
I have been a Zaino user for <> 15 years and have won car shows with it.
BUT.........I don't care what other people use. So I don't waste much time denigrating other products. Cadillac CTS 08 06-14-08, 12:36 AM I had some nice weather to apply a few coats of Zaino this week and discovered that I like the Z-5 Pro the best. The Z-5 Pro is very easy to use and I think it gives a deeper/wetter look vs. Z-2 Pro. Do you guys agree?
If you apply any Zaino products with UV-40 to the glass theoretically you don’t need to protect your dash from fading correct? What is good for the dash to keep it from cracking?
Thanks proexpert 06-14-08, 09:13 AM I recently switched from Zaino to Adams. I'm not going back to the "greasy kid stuff". Adams is much less wet, less greasy, and much easier to remove. Black cars are real hard to get perfect. Black08CTS 06-15-08, 01:41 AM I applied Zaino today for first time and experienced the same exact problem although I didn't use the grand finale spray. It's the Z-5 and Z-2 that leave a film. I found out by accident that Z-6 Gloss Enhancer removes the haze. Even though the polish is hard to remove, I am very happy with Zaino. My car has never looked better. By the way, I have Black Raven. |
