Hi -

My '02 cigarette lighter that's located in the ashtray is intermittent. My Escort 8500 sometimes powers on and off if I go over a large enough bump. How do I gain access to the ashtray lighter wires to fix the problem?

On the 02's you can gain partial access to the wiring from inside the center console, but my hand can't make it all the way to the ashtray. Please let me know.

The ashtray and cupholder assembly pulls straight up and out once you pop the 4 clips in each corner out. Give one corner a good pull, and the rest should follow. I've found that having the arm rest storage lid open works best. Good Luck.
