View Full Version : Did you buy your CTS for less than MSRP?

I am negotiating to buy a CTS. The dealers in my areaa are saying it is a hot selling car and they want MSRP. One dealer even has a $500.00 dealer fee that is added onto it.

Did anyone pay less than MSRP and if so how much less? Did you also have to pay a delaer fee and take certain add ons such as mud flaps, pin striping, protective paint etc?

One dealer called me up the other day and offered a 2008 at invoice plus $500.00. I turned it down since it did not have some of the options I want and was loaded with 20 inch wheels and an upgraded grill as a way of bringing up the price.

How did you make out on the purchase of your Cadillac CTS?

yes i did ,i got it for 3700.00 less than list . Fully loaded 08 cts awd all optoins. But the dealer gave me a hard time . i used the supplier discount, they told me that they did not have to honor it so i told them i did not need to buy the car and was going to go buy a BMW and walked out. LOL the salesman came running after me and said " let me make a phone call". Then he wanted to check my credit .I guess they wanted to see if i was a deadbeat. After he checked my credit he said no problem the car is yours and also dropped the interest rate 1 %.

Thanks for the constructive input.

What is a supplier code; who gets it and how does it work?

I was offered my CTS at invoice with no add ons, complaints, or anything else...I didnt even have to negotiate with the dealer, as soon as I finished telling him the options I wanted (fully loaded minus all wheel) he offered invoice before I could even bring up how much lower than MSRP they would go...saved $4,005...I was extremely happy since other dealerships I had visited/called said they wouldnt budge from the sticker price

I got my code from work , i work for an auto parts chain and we get alot of discount thru our vendors because we buy cars and truck for our stores for parts delivers ( ford, gm , etc) we also used it 3 yr ago when the wife wanted a 2005 ford explorer we got 2900.00 off the price, i dont know if the place you work for buys or lease company cars if they do you should get a discount, check with you HR dept. if you have one.

A member here helped me get supplier pricing, no hassle from the dealer. Had to go out of state to get the car we wanted, but got a real good deal. Do not pay MSRP, keep shopping.

Agreed, don't ever pay MSRP. If you can't find a local dealer that will work with you, drive a little further away, check on-line, or simply wait awhile.

Ken,

Search my other posts and you will find all the info you need including my email since you probably can't PM yet due to your post count, if your dealer will honor the Supplier discount, I will hook you up with one. To see the pricing you will pay (on the actual car you are looking at, if it is off the dealer lot) go to www.gmfamilyfirst.com (http://www.gmfamilyfirst.com) an in the upper right corner under vehicle shopping select supplier pricing then follow the menu's. It is the best way to buy a vehicle for a non-GM employees.

I received 2,000 off MSRP in December. I ordered the car though @4,300 list. I also had a 3,000 GM Credit Card rebate that came off after the 2,000. I don't think the Supplier discount can be used if you use the GM Card credit.

I ordered mine in September and I paid the newcarprices.com invoice. The maximum GM Card rebate on this vehicle is only $!,500.

Yes, I got $1500 off of MSRP w/o much work. I also have an older GM credit card where there is no limit on the discount and that saved me $2700. There was also a GM owner loyalty discount of $1000.00. In total I saved $5200.

auraph,

I bought mine at the end of January. You are right about not being able to combine GM supplier with GM Card. I had not bought a new car in five years and did not know about that change. I wanted to get under $40k before taxes. MSRP was $45,205. I had a GM Card value of $2,000. The dealer told me about the non combining of offers after he had given me a price with the discounts. It took a few hours to get down to my price, but he did. He ended up knocking 3300 off MSRP. I was surprised, since it was a hot car. Point is, someone will come down in price if you wait.

I ordered my CTS last June as soon as the factory began accepting orders. My dealer agreed to accept my supplier discount, so I wasnt sure the price because it was not announced at the time of ordering.

When pricing was announced, my dealer actually gave me the same supplier price, but sold it at retail at the price so I could apply my GM Card earining as well. I have an older GM Card that has no limits. My MSRP was just under $49,000 and my cash price was $42,500. They also applied a dealer "advertising rebate" that was in effect at the time.

I was very pleased with the price I paid. I was a little surprised the dealer did as much as they did to help me save some cash. I had never bought anything from them in the past.

Bought mine off the dealer's lot with my GM Supplier discount in March - saved about $4K off MSRP.

I got the $3,000 from the GM Card. I was actually below the $3k and they gave me the additional needed to get to $3k. I ended getting a demo model with 2500 miles on it so that helped in getting below the original MSRP. I probably would have not gone for a demo, but I couldn't find the options I wanted and my GM card rebate was expiring. I think sticker they wanted $41k and I walked out at $35,000. I'm happy to be able to have an 08 CTS for less than $40k., especially since I was originally looking to get a new 2007 model back in late summer. I ended up getting the 08 car in late February.

I got my full loaded crystal red DI $500 below invoice plus $1000 conquest off. $5000+ off. Total is under MSRP even after adding the tax 8.25% and fees. Dont use supplier price if not necessary. Since the price will "probably" be fix and no further negotiation. You should get at least a $2000 off a loaded w/o even asking. please, no insulting with others' intelligence. Yes BMW5 is my next choice if i don't get the price i like for CTS. A smart sales should know that before he loses his commissions to other sales.

You did very well on getting the car for $500 under dealer invoice. Did he however tack on dealer add ons such as pin striping, mud flaps etc?

What is the conquest $1000 discount and how do I get it

although i want a mud flaps, no she didn't add on that or stuffs i dont like because im not blind. nice sales person, but tricky at times, it's in their blood.

conquest: i ordered the car back in December or sth, build day in January just has my XM 3m free ended a month or few weeks ago, so im not sure do they still have conquest at all locations. It is similar to a $1000 instance rebate by GM if you owns other "newer" vehicle such as a lexus bmw mb etc.. or loyalty conquest (i suppose if you are a caddy owner?) check with your local dealers. GM also have 1.9%-36m 2.9%-48m 3.9%-60m finance back then.

current "lease" incentive offer by GM that i saw at the website:

Low-mileage Lease for Qualified Lessees
$369/month
39 month lease

$3169 due at signing (after all offers).
$2669 due at signing for current Cadillac Owners and Lessees (after all offers).
No security deposit required. Tax, title, license, dealer fees and optional equipment extra.
Mileage charge of $.25/mile over 32500 miles.

Example based on survey. Each dealer sets own price. Your payments may vary. Payments are for a 2008 Cadillac CTS Sedan 1SA with an MSRP of $34790. 39 monthly payments total $14352.Option to purchase at lease end for an amount to be determined at lease signing. GMAC must approve lease. Take delivery by 05-21-2008. Mileage charge of $.25 /mile over 32500 miles. Lessee pays for maintenance, repair and excess wear. Payments may be higher in some states. Not available with other offers. Residency restrictions apply. Current Cadillac Owners and Lessees.

it says dealer sets own price, but that doesnt mean you will accept the price if they set it higher for the same config & option.

Dealers in the Chicago/NW Indiana area are staying pretty close to MSRP because the car is very hot right now. We have a friend of the family who works at a local Cadillac Dealer; he said the owner won’t allow them to sell much below MSRP. Do some Dealers just have too much inventory and want to unload them?

Who is eligible for the supplier discount ? Lewis

Right now GM is allowing GM employees to provide supplier discounts to friends. So to answer your question anyone can receive the discount. If you know a GM employee they can provide you with a GM supplier discount number within the rules of the program. Non-Executives can only request 1 authorization per month.

every sales person i met said the same thing that you said lol, dont fall for it. always prepare to back out and leave, dont feel compel to purchase when you dont like the deal. i don't really trust or like inventory, so I ordered one. We shared our stories and good luck on your purchase.

Hi is there anyone on the forums who would be kind enough to lead me to supplier pricing discount? I know it's asking for a lot for a stranger but I've heard of it happening on this forum so I thought I could give it a shot.

Please PM me if this is possible. THANK YOU!!!
