I am planning on buying a Cadillac CTS and have gone to a few dealers. Since 2008's can no longer be ordered from the factory you can only buy CTS's that are on the dealers lots. One dealer offered me a 2008 at $500.00 over invoice price. Is this a good deal?

The alternative is to wait till the end of this month and place an order for a 2009. Has anyone placed an order for a 2009 and has anyone been told that the dealer will give you invoice price on the car once the official pricing is released later this month from Cadillac?

500 over invoice for dealer stock is pretty darn good, take it.

Would it be better to wait and purchase a 2009 even if I ahd to pay more? One year's less depreciation.

Possibly, but if you purchase an 08, when it comes time to sell it you will have a lower mileage car than most that will be on the market at the time.

Are you kidding? I would jump at the opportunity to buy the 08 at 500 over invoice! That's a steal! The 09 has no design change, why would you pay a lot more for the same car? The 08 is still new with very low mileage & you will still have the factory warranty.

I bought my '08 for invoice in March. Ordered it from the factory and worked the dealer to get invoice price. Bottomline you must do your homework, negotiate hard, and don't let the dealer play games with you. They want to sell a car and they make money no matter what from factory holdback and incentives. They still tried to screw me and add $1,500 to the cost when I went to the finance manager. I made them change the paperwork and called the owner of the dealership to complain and told him he just lost a customer for life.
