The leather/vinyl top on my brougham needs to be repaired. Would this be a job that I can do myself or should I just take it to a professional? If I could do it myself, how would I go about it?

Id take it to a professional. Go to a dealer and ask where they get theirs done, or look in the yellow pages for something along those lines...

DIYing something like that is a way to waste money, have it look bad, and end up going to a professional ANYWAY.

Id go to a pro....because if you have a service manual you will see just how hard it is to work with those tops....they would most likely have to take it off to do a complete good job. Generally really good dealers do it themselves....at a cost of anywhere from $700-$1500, depending upon the dealer and the choice of Vinyl or Cloth top.

I dont have a top at all, I went to the dealers and they told me all parts and labor $1,400.00. for a 91' Sedan Deville.

I wonder what the after market tops look like. I called a shop and they said around $500.00
