I have a 98 STS and one of the head gaskets is blown. Typical overheating issues and I performed the infamous Block Test to confirm. I would do the replacement myself, but the only place I have to work is in the driveway...and from what I've seen in the various posts, I really don't think I want to tackle this working outside in the elements.
Can anyone recommend a decent mechanic/shop in the New England area...perhaps a Cadillac Tech that moonlights?!? I'd prefer a smaller, indy shop as opposed to a a dealer, but all input is appreciated!

hondo69,
2 years ago I bought my 18 year old Son his dream car, a '99 Eldorado.
After checking the CARFAX and talking with the dealer who serviced it here in
Mass. I knew I couldn't go wrong. The car was in showroom condition.
Well one Summer day the boy got stuck in traffic and the car overheated badly. It turns out he aggravated a "border-line" head gasket situation.
From that point on the car would overheat under a load or on a hot day.
I researched as you did here on the Forum, and found a place in Leicester,
Mass. that does a lot of Cadillac repairs, and Northstars. After much deliberation we decided to go with a "used motor" which I could buy with a
2 year warranty. It wasn't cheap, but the car ran flawlessly all last Summer.
Finding someone to pull your engine and "time-certing" it is another way to
fix it, we just did not go down that road, and the price was about the same.
The car is there right now for a transmission issue as we speak. Don't get me going on that..:annoyed:
Anyway, sorry this is so long-winded, but the name of the place I used is
Mac's Auto Repair 508-892-0281, ask for Al or Ed. They've treated me fairly
every time and so far I have no complaints......
Good Luck,
Mark B.
