Does anyone know where to get the proper quadrajet base gasket(s) for a 1968 472? The a manifold has the EGR crossover channels in it and no off-the-shelf gaskets seem to match up. I would prefer to seal off the exhaust crossover channels that are in the manifold-carb mounting surface to reduce temp of carb and the slew of . I have found that chevy's use a similar setup in 69/69 but it seems all the pictures i find show a different layout for the channels.
any advise is much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Are you talking about the metal shim that goes under the carb with the gasket? If so, I was missing mine a couple years ago and could not find a "new" one. I believe I got mine used from Jeff at Willington Cadillac. The car simply would not idle properly without it.

If I understand you correctly, you want to plug off the exhaust heat passages at the base of the carb.
If you live in a permamnantly warm climate, you may get away with it, but if you ever plan on driving the car in cooler climates doing this will cause more grief than it's worth. They are there to provide heat to the base of the carb and prevent carburetor icing in cool wet temperatures, and also aid in warmup.
What could happen will be persistent stalling and very poor fuel economy. Be wary of any modifications from stock. Understand the system you wish to remove and the results before you do it.
