Hello,

I've had my 1983 Eldorado for a few months now but never lock the doors because I bought it with only the ignition key. (I have one of those things that locks the brake to the floor as security.) I bought replacement locks from Autozone thinking it would be an easy DIY job. After taking the door panel off I realized I was in over my head. Is it true that a Cadillac dealer can make me a replacement with my vin #? Do they keep records for 25 years?
Thanks.
Andrew

1983 may be stretching it - I remember they weren't too sure when I need keys for my 1990 that they had the records (but they did). Only way to find out is to call. Also, a good locksmith might also be able to figure it out.

A locksmith could possibly make a door key from the glove box lock. (same key) Its very easy to remove, 2 screws! Also on this era of car most owners would hide a key under a bumper in a metal box! because of the 2 different keys. Found my spare set 1week after purchase and they were factory gold keys!
