View Full Version : 1990 Brougham, What to Pay? tenmark 05-30-04, 09:24 AM Hi. I am between cars. Just sold my 1994 Fleetwood - you may have saw it in the classifieds, and am thinking about a 1990, 1991 Brougham. I'm not sure what they average, price wise.
I saw two in the local paper, one for $850, but with engine problems and the other for $2,250. I'm going to look a the the $2,250 tomorrow.
I remember these cars selling upwards of $4,000 three years ago, but don't know what they get now.
Any help? Well depends on a host of factors including where you live and how motivated the seller is, but for a ' 90 2k 'ish for one that is in decent shape seems resonable for a private deal. I would think the high end would be 3.5k for a 91. I always like to comapre it to how many car payments would that be :) . Just make sure your garage is big enough. At 221 inches overall, the 4-door '90 Brougham sedan ranked as the longest car built in the United States--an inch longer than the Lincoln Town Car.:worship: tenmark 05-30-04, 12:41 PM Yea, my 1994 Fleetwood had to be parked outside. Thanks for the heads up. I'm looking for something with drivetrain but with cosmetic issues.
Mark brougham 05-30-04, 03:33 PM That's a good price for it. Most of them you see for sale on the internet are in the $3,000-$4,000 range for ones that are in decent shape. tenmark 05-31-04, 12:33 AM I looked at a different one today. $2,500. 1990 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham. 107K. Strong engine and drive train. Mint black leather interior - everything works, shows no wear - not even a dash crack. Icy cold A/C.
It could use a paint job and four new tires. Should I deal on this one? ummm not sure who you are trying to convince  . It has been said numerous times - if you are relectant at all and do want to take a chance for about an additional 5% or so you can have it checked out by a professional shop. As it has also been said numerous times, it is likely an expensive repair will happen at some point. The millage is nothing to worry about if it has been well maintanined.
I recenlty bought my '92 Deville without a checkup. But my Dad knew the previous owner who took good care of her. Still I had a $1.2k repair bill after I bought her (mostly labor  ) when I went to get to her checked out for parts that just wear out after time and regualr maintenance items. (break lines , Rear Cylinders, Wheel Alignment , etc ..).
Pirce is good - it is your comfort level that needs to be :coolgleam tenmark 05-31-04, 11:02 AM I've bought and sold numerous cars over the years, including many cadillacs, and so assessing a cars condition isn't a problem.
My question, and I should have been more clear about it, is value. Specifically, resale value.
I am thinking about buying the above mentioned Cadillac, driving it for several months, and selling it at a return.
Sure there is Edmunds, Black Book, Manheim Online, and the eBay historical averages among others but what I'm looking for from my fellow Cadillac enthusiasts, is what they think this car is worth.
Again, here is the evaluation: $2,500. 1990 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham. 107K. Strong engine and drive train. Mint black leather interior - everything works, shows no wear - not even a dash crack. Icy cold A/C.
Could I buy this car, put 10K miles on it, and sell it for more than what I paid for it. ahhhhhhhhhhh I see. I have bought many used cars myself - however have not turned them around as you have. I usually drive them till they die or at least the resale value is negligible.
Tough call - the 10k added is not an issue for sure. Resale for more $$$ - close call :suspense: . A little detailing goes a long way in resale for sure. Personnlly don't think you would make a killing , but likley not loose any money. Although having the longest car made in North America might attract a few fanatics. Good luck.
my $0.02 Msilva954 05-31-04, 01:58 PM I would spend the money and get a nicer one.....was it a 5.7 or a 5.0?? That makes a big diff on those cars. I myself would not settle for a 5.0.
On a side note...there is a listing down here that claims only like 20k miles and they want $7,000. tenmark 05-31-04, 11:18 PM I wasn't aware there were two engines for this car. I'll have to look into it. Yea, I buy them, have all kinds of fun, and then try to sell them at a small profit of a few thousand dollars.
I'll post on the engine. | |
