Hello. I live in Sweden and I drive a 1968 DeVille during summertime. After having winterstored the old beauty I recently started it up and took it for the first trip of the year. I noticed a sort of "air-leaking" sound coming from "in front of the steering wheel"-area when driving (both in D and R) but which disappears when shifting to Park. I am not 100% sure but I believe this wasn't there 6 months ago when I last drove the car. Any ideas on what this might be ? Kind regards from Sweden / Stefan

It sounds like the hose that goes to your emergency brake.. when you put the car in gear if the E brake is on the vacuume acturator releases the brake..that hose must be off...

I have now checked the hose to the "parking brake release vacuum switch" and it seems in good condition. When shifting to D or R the parking brake pedal releases just like it's supposed to, though the "leaking sound" is still there. Could the switch be leaking but still work, or do you have any other idea on where this sound is coming from ?
Kind regards from Stockholm, Sweden.

check to see if the leak is at the neutral safety switch that is mounted on the steering column near the brake petal...If it is you can plug that vacuum line , but will not release the E brake....
