Just to show you the ingenuity of kids, my at the time 14 year old son came to the track day with me. I always tape over the headlights to prevent damage, and costly headlight unit replacement if they are cracked. My son asked if he could to do the tape job. He found some red and some black race tape and went to work. Below is his artistry!

I had a pair of Vans that color.

i am not sure if i'll do it but normally I put thin foam than tape over it. only problem is that it is more work.
