trying to put on the gc kit... i am not finding the gc small rubber washer that is needed for the rear struts... anyone know what the specs of them are so i can try to go buy one?

trying to put on the gc kit... i am not finding the gc small rubber washer that is needed for the rear struts... anyone know what the specs of them are so i can try to go buy one?It's a rubber washer. So if you can measure the width of the strut rod, that's the width you need for the inner diameter. I don't think the outer diameter is all that crucial. It looks like a minor piece that's just to separate the aluminum spacer from the boot over the strut rod.

the one that i received with the gc is a larger steel washer? i put it in place and everything fit... i'll try it out with that and see what happens

Rob, I took some exploded views of the old and new setups on the rear shocks with the GC kit when I installed my FG2s last December.

Unfortunately, I did not document it very well (too cold here!), but I took this pic. Does this show what you're talking about?

ya the little black rubber washer 1st thing to go on, is missing... and is that steel washer the "feff fix"? i think thats where this steel washer is supposed to go... just got off the phoen with the guy who sold me the gc's said that the little rubber washer was destroyed after 7k miles... so is is absolutely necessary?

ya, project got put on hold as i had to finish some things w family... not to mention the guys who were supposed to help me out bailed on me.... so i'm going to try and get it all done today/tomorrow...

Have you done anything on the fronts yet?

Fronts are a bit more involved, IMO. If you don't have access to a press, you'll need a BFH.

anyways, well i had enough time today to put on the hotchkis sway bars, stockers were a pain to get out, especially the rear, and the new ones went right in... did that and then repainted my rotors since were rusting and they looked like ass... much better now... will try my best to get everything else done by wednesday...

hey guys, need some help, the rear is done, and they're workign on the front, jsut called me and apparently the sleeve is sliding right over the fg2 shock and isnt staying in place. They tried fititng it on my fe4's also and it dos the same thing. Is there a snap ring or collar setting that they are supposed to use, or use the stock one?? or does anyone think they may have put the wrong sleeves on the back? need some help asap! thanks!

called ground control, figured out what the issue is... apparently there is a spacer (looks white in color from their pic) that goes on the snap ring of the shock to hold the sleeve in place... it's pictured on the GC website, but not in the Cadi FAQ. Don't lose them as they are $20 a piece! Called the guy I bought them from, he didn't know they were supposed to come off. He's going to try and get them out and overnighted to me tomorrow so I can put my car back together and hit the road tomorrow night... cutting it way too close... lucky me, i get to walk 4 miles from the train station to my place tonight and back again in the morning before I can take a different train tomorrow afternoon to get back to the shop who is working on it.... :annoyed:

I say leave the stock springs on for now. That way, you have a day to find any bugs.

Got a little deal going on here, also. While getting tuned yesterday, the vac nipple on the maggie's by-pass valve broke off. Without it, I'm either WOT or nothing. :eek: Getting one 2nd-day'd from Magnuson ... should be here tomorrow. Was just out in the garage using first epoxy, now JB Weld to secure the dang thing back on just in case.

This could cause a man to :alchi:!!!

confirmation, the spacers were removed and are being overnighted as we speak.... i just hope they are good to go when they arrive and everything can be finished up smoothly tomorrow... PS, yesterday I put on some new rubber Toyo T1-R's in the rear 275/40/18... they look sweet, and the ride is nice :D

Running the Toyos on the track? I hope not...
