So if you can measure the width of the strut rod, that's the width you need for the inner diameter. I don't think the outer diameter is all that crucial. It looks like a minor piece that's just to separate the aluminum spacer from the boot over the strut rod. thebigjimsho 05-03-08, 03:31 PM Don't forget the CadillacFAQ for reference... http://cadillacfaq.com/faq/answers/gcinstall/index.html rangerrob 05-03-08, 03:33 PM the one that i received with the gc is a larger steel washer? i put it in place and everything fit... i'll try it out with that and see what happens rand49er 05-03-08, 03:36 PM Rob, I took some exploded views of the old and new setups on the rear shocks with the GC kit when I installed my FG2s last December. Unfortunately, I did not document it very well (too cold here!), but I took this pic. Does this show what you're talking about? ya the little black rubber washer 1st thing to go on, is missing... and is that steel washer the "feff fix"? i think thats where this steel washer is supposed to go... just got off the phoen with the guy who sold me the gc's said that the little rubber washer was destroyed after 7k miles... so is is absolutely necessary? thebigjimsho 05-03-08, 03:49 PM ya the little black rubber washer 1st thing to go on, is missing... and is that steel washer the "feff fix"? i think thats where this steel washer is supposed to go... just got off the phoen with the guy who sold me the gc's said that the little rubber washer was destroyed after 7k miles... so is is absolutely necessary? The "Feff Fix" washer is the bright, shiny silver one that goes just over the pillow mount... rangerrob 05-03-08, 03:54 PM ya i put that in the wrong spot, changing it now... is that little black rubber washer on the far left completely necessary? thebigjimsho 05-03-08, 03:58 PM ya i put that in the wrong spot, changing it now... is that little black rubber washer on the far left completely necessary?I would imagine it keeps the boot from wearing from the contact of the aluminum spacer. Maybe. Probably not an imminent problem... rand49er 05-03-08, 08:28 PM It's been several hours ... are you doing okay, Rob? rangerrob 05-04-08, 07:48 AM ya, project got put on hold as i had to finish some things w family... not to mention the guys who were supposed to help me out bailed on me.... so i'm going to try and get it all done today/tomorrow... rand49er 05-04-08, 08:37 AM Have you done anything on the fronts yet? Fronts are a bit more involved, IMO. If you don't have access to a press, you'll need a BFH. rangerrob 05-04-08, 09:51 AM bfh? They tried fititng it on my fe4's also and it dos the same thing. Is there a snap ring or collar setting that they are supposed to use, or use the stock one?? or does anyone think they may have put the wrong sleeves on the back? need some help asap! thanks! rangerrob 05-06-08, 01:05 PM [IMG]http://www.didrace.com/junk/robstrut.jpg[IMG] don't know how to get teh pic to view correctly, but this is what they just took, showing that it slid right over and all the way down... mod hell!!!!! help! trukk 05-06-08, 01:43 PM [IMG]http://www.didrace.com/junk/robstrut.jpg[IMG] don't know how to get teh pic to view correctly, but this is what they just took, showing that it slid right over and all the way down... mod hell!!!!! help! Nerded up for you :D http://www.didrace.com/junk/robstrut.jpg -Chris rangerrob 05-06-08, 02:45 PM called ground control, figured out what the issue is... apparently there is a spacer (looks white in color from their pic) that goes on the snap ring of the shock to hold the sleeve in place... it's pictured on the GC website, but not in the Cadi FAQ. Don't lose them as they are $20 a piece! Called the guy I bought them from, he didn't know they were supposed to come off. He's going to try and get them out and overnighted to me tomorrow so I can put my car back together and hit the road tomorrow night... cutting it way too close... lucky me, i get to walk 4 miles from the train station to my place tonight and back again in the morning before I can take a different train tomorrow afternoon to get back to the shop who is working on it.... :annoyed: Twitch 05-06-08, 03:27 PM I say leave the stock springs on for now. That way, you have a day to find any bugs. Good luck anyway. Tony rand49er 05-06-08, 04:30 PM ... cutting it way too close... :annoyed:Geez, I hope this all pans out for you, Rob. Got a little deal going on here, also. While getting tuned yesterday, the vac nipple on the maggie's by-pass valve broke off. Without it, I'm either WOT or nothing. Getting one 2nd-day'd from Magnuson ... should be here tomorrow. Was just out in the garage using first epoxy, now JB Weld to secure the dang thing back on just in case. This could cause a man to :alchi:!!!
