Hi,
Does anyone have the wiring schematic for the power door mirrors on an 85 deville?
Trying to trouble shoot them and I think the switch is defective. There are 8 wires. 2 yellow, 2 white, 2 blue, 1 black and 1 orange.
Any help would be appreciated.
Try www.ebscohost.com, click on auto repair reference, then click on proper car year.
I have this web site saved because it shows wiring diagrams. But I cannt get it to go to the proper site? this wiring info is from St Johns County public library. You might try a "search" here to better locate it.
Thanks, I was able to get the schematics to load but there are none for the power mirror. Just about everyithing else though. This will come in handy for future reference.
Still need to know which wire does what with the power mirrors.
what are the mirrors NOT doing?
Intermittant movement. Tried to trace wires and test but would be helpfull with wire schematic so I know what function should be on what wire. It looks like the switch reverses polarity depending on the select of right hand or left hand. but when I test the switch it does not make sense. Guess I need to know how it is supposed to work so I can figure out if the switch is defective or the mirror or the wiring. Maybe even a corroded connector. I have had some experience with these older cars and found that corroded connections can be problematic. I also know that you can really chase your tail without a wiring diagram. Other GM cars with power mirrors are pretty straight foreward. This one is really strange. Does the switch go right to the mirrors or is there relays in between?
What I get now is with 12 volts on the orange wire and the black grounded. The yellow wires both seem to coorespond to the down function in both right and left select. the blue wires are both right and up in both right and left select. Th white wires seem to work with the left movement. All very confusing and the the other GM cars are more up, down, left and right.
Any ideas? Maybe just a bad switch?
