The best thing to get or learn is knowledge of how the car works. A shop will charge you lots of money and many modern mechanics don't really know their way around a car that doesn't have a check engine light anyways.

Factory service manuals are available on Ebay and cover just about everything on the car from the simple stuff to a full trans or engine rebuild (a Fisher body manual for 1970 will cover the rest).

Is the Edelbrock a Performer model or a Q-jet? Personally, I prefer the Q-jet but either will work great. Tuning and maintenance information for both is also available all over the net.

NYJets does make a very good suggestion: old cars can have issues with connections becoming corroded. Very many electrical issues will likely turn out to be a bad ground wire.

But, for the basic tune up stuff... Air filter, fuel filter, new oil and filter, distributor cap and rotor, ignition coil, points and condenser (and set ignition dwell), plug wires, spark plugs (properly gapped) and a carburetor rebuild will make the car run entirely different if it isn't quite running right (contrary to popular belief, a carbureted engine will respond nearly as fast as a FI engine when tuned properly). You can get through most of those tasks with a screwdriver and a few wrenches - seriously! It seems like a long list but it doesn't all have to be done at once and isn't too hard with some reading.

Make sure she only gets premium fuel. 1970 Cadillacs got high compression engines so they DO need premium to avoid engine damage!

The car doesn't have any sensors in the modern sense. There are a few temperature and pressure sensitive switches on the engine for the dash idiot lights though.

Oh, and welcome to the world of Caddy ownership. I know I love the heck out of my '70.
