I watched part of the one hour G4 infomercial - er, I mean special report on GTA4. It was enough to convince me that it was more of the same, therefore not worth taking Orange Box or Rock Band out of my 360 to play.

As a news blog it's kind of our job to bring you tidbits like this, but it doesn't make it any more tantalizing, especially when we know the maelstrom of dumb things like this can cause. But here it goes: Thanks to the denizens of this forum thread, we now know that the PS3 version of Grand Theft Auto IV runs at 640p, as compared to the Xbox 360's 720p *ducks*.

Before you start hunting for your fancy pitchfork, let us remind you that until 17 seconds ago this problem didn't bother you at all. And because of some of the processing effects, some people even insist that the PS3 version looks better to them! But hey, if you need something to get angry about, far be it from us to take that from you.

While we've been playing Grand Theft Auto IV on Xbox Live for hours now, our pals over at PS3 Fanboy have had less luck. The gang -- meta moment alert! -- grabbed a cell phone and snapped a photo of the game's cell phone, specifically, the "error" message pictured above, confirming reports that the online multiplayer component of the PlayStation 3 version of GTA IV has not been accessible today (though it was last night, apparently). To be clear, this does not appear to be a network-wide issue; PSN seems to be functioning properly otherwise. Someone go give those Rockstar servers a good hard kick, will ya?

We'll update the post once multiplayer is back online.


CO-OP isn't really CO-OP

on the back of the box it says 2-4 player co-op, usually this mean 4 people can play the game together. not the case. So far the Rockstar site doesn't have anything just says coming soon and the closet thing we can do is hangman's noose.

So the game doesn't really have co-op. You can still play together online, you just can't do missions together.

lol that will never happen! The PS3 and 360 are Ferrari's.....the Wii is a Pontiac Fiero with a Ferrari body kit on it. It just doesn't have enough

video games don't appeal to me like they used to... I haven't played my PS2 in probably a year... and my PSP.... I don't even use that, I got a laptop for traveling, not it just sits... it's a great device, but I only use it for playing MP3's in the car... shoulda just got a dedicated MP3 player.... ah well.

Liberty City's a big place. Huge place. Lots of roads, lots of places to see, lots of ways to get lost. Lucky, then, that your woeful Liberty City navigation skills can be bailed out just as easily as your real-world navigation skills, with Google Maps helping set up an interactive map of GTA IV. On it, users can post the exact location of stuff like restaurants, ATMs, easter eggs and strip clubs, should you ever feel up to driving around Liberty City while checking the laptop perched precariously on your lap.

God I love this game.

Where the hell were you all when I asked two weeks ago who was excited about this. I palyed till 6am on Tuesday and Wed after I found out the true releaswe date. I'm about 36% done, can't wait to race home to play more. Some guy finished it 100% in 18 hours. Go to socialclub/rockstar.com to sign up, link your accounts and it will keep track of your stats and other neat sh!t.

I got in an H2 (appropriately named The Patriot :patriot:) and went driving on the sidewalk, just like in real life!

They have either a 1978-79 Sedan DeVille in the game. I can't remember the exact name of the car, but it's a dead ringer for a 78-79 SDV, granted, it's a beat up one, but it's dead on.

In a review I read they talked about the in-game Internet Cafe called Tw@ (which is hilarious). Apparently there's a huge list of fake web sites you can visit on the in-game Internet that spoof well known sites like YouTube and MySpace.

As repetitive as I've found the previous games, I have to admit to being mildly impressed by that.

There is an internet and its in your best interest to date girls off it. One has it so when I call her any time I get a health boost. Personally only played online for a few mins, but that is a surface I can't wait to scratch.

Watch the in-game TV until you come across Republican Space Rangers. I almost cried from laughing so hard.

Well, I lost an entire day to this game yesterday.... on my death bed I'm sure I'll regret it... but it sure was fun if not a bit sad to sit in front of a game for... well..... I don't really want to admit how long.

I haven't tried the multi yet... my girl is going out of town for two weeks so I've booked a room in Liberty city... Muahahahahaha!!!

I finally got to play it too... wow. GTA is the only game I get excited about, and this one is crazy. I mean, there's a '79 Cadillac, what else can I ask for? (except maybe... a coupe!) oh, and there's two versions of it if you haven't noticed already, Chad. One is a beater and the other one's nice. Then there's some coupe that looks kind of like a 1967-1970 Eldorado mixed with some Buick.

I love the damage physics too.

It's kinda confusing, that Cadillac has the grille of a 1979, but the roofline and tail lights are like an '80-'89. And yeah Ben, I found the nice Cadillac too, not just the hooptie.

Yeah, and the grille pattern is kind of mixed with '77. But the taillights are pure '78. Wish it had better rims though. The ones on it look like the plastic ones you buy at Wal mart to me.
