You have Rainsense. Be sure it is in the OFF position and reread the owners manual.

Are you sure? No little black box up next to the rear view mirror?

I'm sure. Just had a new windshield (month ago) put in and installer even mentioned that it didn't have one. Had the car about three years and today was the first time it happened (very sunny day)

Then there is either a problem in the multifunction switch or in the motor itself.
