I have a PC0716 and PC0717 in history... I checked them about a year ago and just had one (can't remember which one, think it was 0716?) occasionally I get the service transmission soon warning when coming off of the interstate , but it continues to shift fine, no real problems... my question is now I get the other code, so is it actually the sensor, or could it be the connector or wiring?

P0717 - Input Speed Sensor Circuit Low Input

If they're both history you might try clearing them and, when you get the "service transmission" warning, see if that's when they come back. The "circuit" designator sounds like wiring or a damp connector from here..........speed sensors are in the wheel bearing capsules, and there's a transmission input sensor also, so you might have some wiring checks to do.

I have been clearing the codes for about a year, I just now started getting the PO717...and so far it was only once. the sensor is in the wheel bearing? I thought the ISS was a 20.00 part burried 2000.00 deep in the tranny? so as long as there are no real shifting issues, I should be fine?

You're correct, the vehicle and input speed sensors are transmission parts......I was going on checking electrical connectors to speed sensors first before tearing into the transmission......
There is a Vehicle Speed Sensor on top of the transmission nose just under the front of the right cylinder head. Looks like there's a brace to the head which must be removed, but the sensor slides out of a tube and retainer bolt affair. The rate manual says it's a $26 part and 0.5 hour to replace, on a lift.
The Input Speed Sensor is in fact buried inside the transmission....... and that's about an 11 hour rate.
Went through my Alldata subscription for my car: the transmission systems and electrical specs are mind-boggling........
