Does anybody know how many miles per gallon a 1970 eldorado gets? Other years?

i have a 69 eldog and a 76 coupe , my 69 gets about 9 and the 76 gets about 11 , so with a high compression 500 i would say around 8-10mpg

I just bought this car last week and the fuel gauge does not work. BUT, I figured out today, (by filling up and knowing what was left in the tank and how many miles I drove since the last fill up), that the car goes about 7 gallons per mile - city driving. Yikes!
Here's hoping for lower gas prices SOON.

beautiful car in your avatar rudi! Hope that's the one you're talking about. Have any full size pictures?

My 72 Eldo gets right around 8-9 city driving, but i was going really light on the pedal that tank.

I dunno about the caddy's, but I had a '66 Lincoln Continental that got 6 mpg whether you were running it down the highway at 45, 70, 110 or cruising around town doing burnouts at the local car show. The big 462 was an awesome motor. I just sold a '72 Cad that had the 500, and it got even worse mileage, but it didn't run well at all and needed a lot of work, so that's not a good indicator. :) Also, my old Dodge 413 Max Wedge gets absolutely horrible mileage...not sure what, but when you hafta run the good stuff and you fill the tank every 150 miles or so, you know its not driven too much.

my dad just drove my 69 coupe down to southern CA from wisconsin... he says he got an average of 11mpg at 55-60mph, and managed 14mpg at 70-75mph

Haha its great when you pull up next to one of those hybrid cars with the people that actually have intentions on being kind to the enviroment....and then you rev up the engine and totally defeat the purpose of their car for the day! Guzzlin gas and killin the ozone! At least with my 68 :lildevil:

A '70 Eldo averages 6mpg... wow! That's worst than exotic V12 sports cars. Mind you, the 500 is bigger than a Viper engine :coolgleam

Yeah i actually got lucky...i thought i had drums all the way around...i accepted it. Took off the steelies one day to check them and i had discs!! I was very happy!

Yeah man...my favorite is cruisin through the city and goin through intersections...the ones that got the dips in them...feels like a Sea Ray being dropped in the water.
