All the parts catalogs offer one or two bends at the rack end for a 2000 Deville.
Which one should I get?

Also I am new to N*. How do I tell if I have a 9 or a Y engine?

Thanks in advance.

How many bends in the hose you have now?

Better take the old one off first and compare it to the new ones and see which one is closer. Yes, that mean you will have to buy locally, and maybe pay a little more, but at least you will get the right one

Turns out one hose is a service part; and one is as installed at the factory.
I bought the service part figuring it was used for a replacement for a reason.
This job took about 2 hours total. You do not need to remove the exhaust or jack the engine as mentioned in other posts, at least not on the 2000 deville.

the "y" or "9" engine designation is the eighth digit of the vin, ther has been a new hose update gm came out with so the new hose may not look exactly like the oldone

Just had a hose pop on my 2000 DHS... Anything anyone can point me to
for any guidance, or am I in for a tough job ??

I am a pretty savvy mechanic..but I havent done one of these.. I haven't even cleaned the engine compartment to assess exactly what it is..but I have fluid, everywhere, so I am fairly certain it is the HP side..

I really appreciate if anyone has a thread on how to's or whatever..

Much thx and Merry Christmas !
