Ok what do you guys think my friend who details cars on the side told me not to use my California Duster to dust off the car. He said it causes swirls in the paint b/c all it does is move around dirt on the car. If have a black ext so have to be very careful everything shows up. Anyone have any insight on this?? I just bought it so I'm knida bummed. I heard alot of people use it but I dont want swirls...

I owned 36 detail shops in the 80's and 90's and I will tell you that dusters cause scratches, if you use a duster as they were meant to be used, that is to one use it if you have washed your car and put it away, but HAVE NOT DRIVEN IT, and the garage dust settles on your car, that is ok to use a duster on, but once you have driven the car, even if it's only around the block, you have brake dust (very abrasive) and road dirt also very abrasive, if you use a duster then you will scratch your car over time, now if you have a lighter color car, or truck it will take longer for the scratches and swirls to appear, darker cars will shows the swirls much faster. We could always tell custers that used dusters because the swils and light scratches would follow the body lines. Then can be safe if used correctly
