Those are some pics for now...Once the car is all back together...I Will take more pics and post =) I want to make this a track car and if finances somehow come together...maybe one day have a cts as my daily driver again =) Blackout 04-23-08, 02:42 PM Nice man. The IS300 is basically a Lexus Supra since they have the same engine just minus the turbo. It should make for a nice sleeper man. You planning on bringing it to the dyno once it's all setup? I~LUV~Caddys8792 04-23-08, 02:50 PM Nice! I admire the effort and dedication you've put into it. Nice man. The IS300 is basically a Lexus Supra since they have the same engine just minus the turbo. YEs we do have the same engine as a NA supra, except ours is vvti and the bottom end, and some wiring. I will have to get a new tranny which i am going R154 89 supra tranny so i can get past 14 psi. Once I change my internals...rods, pistons, bearings...I will have a gte bottom end. Then i can push the car past 16 psi to whatever. Yes once its all setup I do plan on taking to the dyno. I will have to tune it. We will street tune first then we will dyno tune. Unfortunately I am not full standalone and have a haltech f10x which is only a fuel managment. SO i will eventually need to go standalone EM. I will have atleast 340 rwhp guaranteed.
Nice! I admire the effort and dedication you've put into it.
Thanks man!! It has been sitting down for 3 months. Been taking my time with it and learning about everything at the same time. You value your car more when you personally do the work =) I~LUV~Caddys8792 04-23-08, 03:10 PM Anyone ever done anything like this to an LS400? ;) Anyone ever done anything like this to an LS400? ;)
Lol actually there is!! its a supercharger kit...but they are also working on a twin turbo kit. Here is the link if you are interested... http://www.lextreme.com/sc.html
Here is also a link to a video of a CTS-V vs Lexus IS300 TT internals http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVbF7CxB3B0 The guys at Lextreme figured out how to mate their LS400s to a proper Hydramatic transmission. A GM tranny would have transformed the LS400 I had, because that Aisin box was a heap of crap latched on to an otherwise perfect car. That looks like quite the setup. God help you if something on that breaks. I~LUV~Caddys8792 04-24-08, 01:50 PM Is that an INLINE 6 in that Lexus? I could have sworn that was a V6 in those IS's..... That looks like quite the setup. God help you if something on that breaks.
Yea it is! I will take morte pics when its fully completed and my dyno sheets and so forth. OMG if somethin breaks...i think i might just light the car on fire lol.. it has been one hell of a learning process for me. You learn the most when you DIY.

Yes it is an inline 6. I think maybe the 250's are V6 but im not positive as i have not done any research on them.:hmm: I drove an IS300 that my boss had as a loaner once. It handled nice, the engine was smooth, but powerband seemed narrow, and feedback was almost non-existent. I remember it having a very attractive interior though. I think it had that levinson sound system or something. It rocked. I was surprised one of their loaner cars had that nice of a sound system. I drove an IS300 that my boss had as a loaner once. Actually if I had to compare my cts and the IS300 for performance, looks, driveability, problematic... IS300 wins the performance, driveability and the cts would have the looks and problematic. The shifting was a little bit of a pain in the cts. Better gearing in the IS. To me nothing is more stylish than the cts..but when it came to performance...IS300 hands down!:halo: you shoulda tried the V :D you shoulda tried the V :D
I really wanted the V..like majorly bad!! even after my wreck i wanted a V...but couldnt find a V within my price range =( So I heard about the IS300 and thats when I went for it...still really want a V regardless..but after seeing this video lol a little bit happy with my decision http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVbF7CxB3B0 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVbF7CxB3B0) Well here is a bit of an update of whats going on with my car. Well...the stock engine blew up before the car even got to start. Apparently the car was mistimed, and possibly a number of things. 2 broken valves, broken spark plug, chipped the head, and gauged the piston. There was coolant all over my headgasket so i take it my head wasnt totally torqued down correctly. SO..I needed to get a new engine now. There is one i purchased in orlando...a longblock...which is the GE block with GTE internals (supra twin turbo) and all. The machine shop was honing, boaring, and hot dipping the bottom block.
Well the machine shop bored the block .020 over. So now the supra TT pistons wont fit in the cylinder. So now I need upgraded Racing pistons. So the guy I purchased the block off of is trying to get ahold of a deal on racing pistons. IF not he has another block he will send back to the machine shop to be honed, bored w/ the gte pistons. Car is still sitting waiting for the engine to be pulled. ughhhh what a project...and an expensive lesson to follow the TIS manual. Just an update =) if any of you guys cared lol. Destroyer 05-23-08, 05:51 PM Wow, that sounds like a project gone bad. I'll tell ya man, I used to build up cars and I no longer do it. It is MUCH easier and cheaper to buy a car that is already done. Very cool car though, hope it turns out right.;) Night Wolf 05-23-08, 05:57 PM Are those FWD or RWD?
Neat project tho! Its RWD. It is an insane project, but when you do it all yourself you have more appreciation for the car then buying it already modded. That is just my opinion. lol i would rather have an already modded car but this is a good learning experience and helps with knowledges of cars. I will keep you all psoted. Engine will be here soon and will be installed soon. I will post vids up and all. Keep yas informed =) the cadillac kid 05-26-08, 09:39 PM good luck jonny. Playdrv4me 05-27-08, 02:00 AM MAY THE FOCE BE WITH YOU.
That is one HELL of a farking IS300 build-up!
Oh yea, the IS250 is a V6 and its a heap of trash, don't ever buy one. I had one and it was slow as fock. |
