Greetings all, potential new buyer here with the usual questions :duck:

I have been looking at the latest version of the CTS since its introduction last year but didn't pull the trigger to date since my continuing employment was in doubt till late last month. I've been to the local dealer (Len Stoler, Westminster,MD) three times and they've been real helpful but they haven't had what I desire in stock. This past Saturday was there for four hours while my sales guy and sales mgr went online and searched out to 500 miles but no exact match to be found so Mgr said he'd put order in via workbench.
Said I'd have a fax confirmation Monday night but here it is Wednesday and still no joy. Thanks to this forum I know why... per Vehicle ordering guide, no nore LT Platinum (sigh).
Well here's what my wish list was:

LT Platinum over Ebony
18" All season Performance/Lux 1/Lux2/U2S sound/No moonroof/no wood/spare tire/wheel upgrade .

I was (ahem) promised $500 over invoice per sales manager.

I have test drove loaded AWD w/all the bling but felt it was a bit "tubby", sorry no offense to AWD owners.
Also drove 6 speed manual w/18" summer tire and FE3 and was impressed but
I'm concerned the bloom will fade since it's so much like my current ride (2005 Infinity G35 Coupe with 6spd MT/19" summer tires/sport suspension) which I've grown tired of... stiff dampers, pricey tires and a thirst for 93 octane. Who would of thought of buying a Caddy for better fuel economy :)

So, from what I've learned here at this most informative site (salesman told me to come here), I'm beginning to think it might serve me to wait till May and order an '09, get exactly what I want and hope for late August delivery; maybe just maybe something might come up in dealer search in the meantime. Anyways, thanks for the time and wait on your learned suggestions.

Wait and order the 09. The time will pass fast.

I would wait for the 09 and get the new silver that will be available....it will be worth the wait.

Glad to hear that we're helping train some Salespeople nationwide.

If you really want an exact car then you'll need to wait and order an 09. The plus side to waiting for an 09 is factory installed Bluetooth, plus your car will be one year newer. The downsides are waiting, and the conquest rebate and 1.9% financing will probably be gone by then. There are some good deals on '08s if you're willing to take a second choice color.

Memoryleak: I orderd (and received) my car from Len Stoler. They were incredibley helpful. They did everything they said they would and still gave me a great price and helped me secure all the incentives that were available at the time. No hassles, no getting jerked around. One of the best dealers I have ever worked with.

Tony;

I thought the conquest rebate was gone. Can you provide details?

Memoryleak,
Seeing as you have been patient all of this time looking for the perfect CTS, I agree with the others. I wait and order an 09 with everything on it you want. You will will in two ways. You will get the exact car you want and you will also have all of the updates that come along with the new model. You will also get one of the early ones to boot. I guess that's three reasons to wait! Hang in there. It will definetly worth the wait!

4/19 through 4/30 - $1,000 conquest for owners of 1999 and newer competing luxury brands who purchase a CTS ($500 on a lease).

Thanks Tony.

Since I ordered my car a few days before 4/19, and won't take possession until it gets built, I suspect I'm outta luck....

Sigh,
I guess it's just as well to wait the few more days/weeks to place an order for a '09 and not repeat buying on impulse and settling for something other than what I wanted (ie the Infinity). I'm curious why I haven't heard back from the dealer. I mean if they checked workbench and '08 vehicle buying guide, you'd think they'd know by now it's a dead end. :(

Thanks again for the input, I'll be sticking round.

I am hoping for a 3.6 turbo (TT36). Otherwise I will probably go for the V coupe.
So I wait first...
