About a month ago, I had a bit of a temper tantrum, edited out the content in a bunch of my own posts, and left the CadillacForums. At the time I thought I had valid reasons for doing so, but now I regret it and would like to apologize to the membership and to Sal. I'm sorry. If there's some way to recover the lost posts from backup I'll get with Sal and do it. Otherwise, I'll try to make it up some other way.

In the interim I realized, among other things, that the Community - the synergy...the whole that's greater than the sum of the parts - is more important than the individual personalities.

Sal has generously kept my place open here...maybe I can just slip back in quietly...:shocked2:

Hi Sandman.. I've been running message boards for about 18 years now (it started WAY back with my Commodore 64). So, I think I can say I've seen just about everything. I have a good ability to see things from all angles and to place myself in others shoes. So I can understand how and why things happen. Personally, I'm glad to see you back. And, I know of quite a few others who will be glad to see you as well. I received numerous emails from people asking what happened to you and why it happened.

The bottom line is, everybody makes mistakes. We all do what we do because we think it's for the best or what's right. Otherwise, we wouldn't do it. I hope we can all learn to get along and do what's best for the Cadillac community. We'll certainly make more mistakes down the road. Hopefully we can catch them quickly and fix what may temporarily be broken.

All in all, we must get along - atleast to some extent. Let's see what happens from here on in. If anyone decides to leave the board because the Sandman is back (ridiculous, but I've seen it happen plenty of times on other boards I've run) - please do so quietly.. I know we'll all disagree from time to time. And some of us will disagree all the time. Well, it's a free country and we're allowed to do that. I'm pleased with that...

Leave because he's back?!
Gimme a break. It's a friggin' internet forum for God's sake. If I don't like the guy, I'll ignore what he says. To leave would be ridiculous.
Sandman made a lot of good posts but then he was gone for awhile and came back "loaded for bear". Normally, I would say that his ego got the best of him but the mere fact that he came back and apologized proves he's NOT just a arrogant, pompus, jerk ;)
I don't care what he says, I call 'em like I see 'em, if I agree with him, I'll say so, if I don't, I'll say so. End of story.

As ridiculous as it sounds, people do react like that (and leave).

heh, yeah, I would know, I just got kicked out of a home-audio forum I have been going to for almost a year now, becuase I have been getting into arguments with some guy (that he would prevoke, if he would just shutup, nothing would go wrong) but they would turn it around and make it sound like it was me. Why did they agree with him even though he was the one who would bring up prevoius arguments that were beaten to hell and back? simply put becuase he is a mod, and has been there alittle longer then me..... plus the average age of people there is probally around 40-50, and becuase I am younger, they seem to think I know nothing at all.

oh well, I havn't been going there too much, now I just go here and GAOC (Grand Am Owners Club) because these two places are really cool.

Sandman, I think you stopped going coming here before I started, so I don't remember you, but glad that whatever happened, is now history, and everything is ok ;)

Hey Panther

High school student, drive a '93 Caddy, and into vintage home audio equipment - as in valves (tubes for those not familiar)? Suweet!

So what gear are you running at home, and what do you listen to? I'm strictly solid state, Aragon components, B&W speakers, Muse Model 18 subwoofer, stuff like that. Actually, I need to upgrade most of my stuff sooner or later, starting with my CD Player.

Audiophiles are even cooler than Caddy owners - I'm already glad to be back...

Hey, yeah, I am into vintage home audio....solid state, my receiver is a Sansui 9090DB, cd player is a Nakamichi CD Player2 Limited, turn table is a BSR 810 transcription, speakers are JBL L100's, I made the rack it is all on. I listen to anything, classic rock is my favorite, country, rock, pop, rap, I don't care..... I don't like too much rap, if I am alone I wont listen to it, but hanging out with friends, usually we do. Pink Floyd is my favorite group, Foreigner is very good too, along with most of the popular classic rock groups. I used to be into home audio like crazy, now I just enjoy my system as it is, becuase I am getting more into my car (it'll be here in 8 days) and I have always loved cars and working on them. You have some real nice gear there

Yeah, all my friends joke around about my car all the time, say it's a grandpa's car..... lol, that's ok though, when they see it, they will be like DAYUMMMM.....then we'll see what they think about it :)

I never liked to consider myself an Audiophile (I call them Audiophools) but more an enthusist, becuase when I hear Audiophile, I think of people that believe in expensive power cables, little telephone poles for their speaker wire, believeing that letting your cdp warm up for 24hrs will make it sound worlds better then if it had a cold start and other stuff like that. No offense if any of that applies to you though ;)

Here is a current picture of my home system.... I really need to get alot more music, but can't justify spending ~$16-$18 for 1 CD with about 12 soungs, and only half of them are semi-good.......so I have a portable cd player to play MP3 cd's and have my computer hooked up to the Sansui via tape monitor (and a switch box to go from Aiwa mini-stereo as a computer system, to the big rig) that way i can stream all the music I want :)

If you listen critically to your gear you're an audiophile. Non-audiophiles only listen to the music, never the equipment. Among audiophiles there is endless debate as to the importance of things like cables, interconnects, and power conditioners. If you'e a critical listener all I can say is that you should listen for yourself and make your judgements according to what you hear and not base them on what you think you will hear or what other people or magazines tell you they hear.

Being an audiophile is *not* a good thing, but it's not something you can control - you are or you're not.

I used to critical listen all the time, turn the lights off at night, throw 6 cd's in the Nak (it has the music bank feautre) and just critical listen. Now, I just have no time at all, and mostly use the system for backround music, or when I am bored on a friday or saturday night, or have friends over, just crank the hell out of it (well, to the gear it is not even a hard workout) the JBL's are extremly efficent and can take mega-power, and I have gobs of power at hand, so it can make for some times :)
