Can anyone give me some advice on which air intake system to buy.

Also I would like to know how much horsepower I can expect to gain.

Thanks

About 10 hp. I have had several like K&N FIPK, Airaid and Volant, I like the Volant the best.

Is there a particular reason you prefer the Volant over the other brands? How about K&N?

K&N made to much noise, the Volant was fairly quite, looked more stock like under the hood, and it works. :)

What do you mean exactly by too much noise? What type of noise - can you hear it from inside the truck?

K&N made a drone type sucking sound, and yes it was loud in the truck

Ok - I definitely dont want it to be loud inside the truck!! So the Volant is the most quiet?

Is it really even worth the $$$, do you think I will notice the difference?

Thanks

You will notice the difference, add a Preditor programer for even better gains. :)

What kind is that --- probably too late now, I just ordered the Volant!

I'm putting my vote in the GM performance intake.

I have the Volant. They all roughly make the same HP, but I liked the look of the Volant.

Granted, this is with exhaust and tuning, but here is a graph of what mine dynoed after install:

Is Dyno tuning better than tuning with the Predator? How much does it cost to have your truck dyno tuned?

Yes a dyno tune will give you the most hp, however with the hand held programmers you can put the stock program back in if you would have to take the truck in for warranty work.

Great point! By the way I just hooked up the programmer and it works great. However I still notice a hesitation going at about 5- 10 mph and then gunning it. What can I do to fix that?

Hmm.... Numbers are intersting. Do you have the baseline numbers or did you just dyno after everything was installed? Just kind of seems like there is a little more to be gained. Please advise.

Not sure, I do not have that in either truck.

Yes, dyno tuning will get you more, in addition to other things you can tune; transmission, etc.

You can do the same thing with a dyno tune. My truck was tuned with HP Tuners, and the stock tune was saved before any modifications were done.

We did not do a baseline, but the dyno pulls were done in 3rd gear, which would represent lower numbers. For some reason, we can not get the higher speed limiter to take, therefore not allowing a full pull in 4th. We/they use HP Tuners software, and I saw where they set the top speed at 150 in 2 different places, but it won't take. Not that big a deal, but would be nice to figure out.
