so my car just passed safety by a mechanic ive know for years (week ago) so its not the brakes.
it only happens when im not on the brakes and rolling slowly...sometimes.not often but still it happens up to 40km/hr.
im thinkin it might be the dust shield rubbing? as soon as i hit the brakes with a little pressure the squeek goes away.
wheel berings make a hum usually (???) so its probably not that.
any suggustions on what i should look for?
its a 03 cts lux/sport 110km

I have the same sound. It seem to only do it in cool weather and once it gets going the noise goes away.

not saying this is your cause, but lotta times when shops replaces pads/rotors they used the lowest grade of parts....over time these parts (especially brakes) alter with climate change.....change your pads first....might og away then change rotors....

once again....this might not be your scenario but worth the thought...

I think it's the wear sensors, even though your mechanic said the bralkes are OK, the wear sensors may be hitting the rotors.

Good link here:

Don't use an Allan key to try to remove the screw that holds the rotors on. It's a Torx #27 (somewhat unusual, not in all kits).

Oh, and I concur ... suspect it is the wear sensor. I did my front brakes first and figured the rears would be ok for a while. Had squeeking exactly like you describe and assumed it was something to do with the brakes I had done. I finally realized the sound was coming from the rear and did the rear brakes. One rear pad had work unevenly and was down almost to metal. After replacing the rear brakes absolutely no more squeeks :)

awesome, ill get my dad to pick up some pads for me (hes a manager at a chev dealer ...staff price is awesome!!!)
thanks 4 the link that will help this process a lot, im gonna check for a caddy cts shop manual but i dont think i have 1.
my only doubt that its the brakes is that this car really stops good, ide say best braking ive experienced. note i usually drive suv's but ive had my share of rental cars.
