Just curious what you guys had to say. Inspite of the new changes for the 2009 model, i was wondering if you think GM would charge close to $1k ($995) for this color option. I do know that the new Chevy Malibu's have a "Black Granite Metallic" color option which i presume would be the same as "Black Ice" for the 09 CTS. I have seen the color in person on the Malibu and all i can say is holy sh!t!!! :worship: this color is amazing and i am suprised that it was not offered on the 08 model for the CTS. The reason i am curious aboput the price is because it is only a $95 option on the Malibu. Here is the link to the Malibu site to see it as an option

It's $450 on the 2008 DTS, so I'm assuming it'll be the same on the CTS.

Yep, I don't think it is a Tricoat. I think you will just get hit for the special color.

imo, it is way to dark for my tastes, yet it doesnt have the clasic richness of regualr classic black, and it looks like a dark color with overspray or pollen, because the metallic flake sits closer to the top. I find myself wanting to wipe it, lol. This car has some nice sharp and subtle lines, it begs for some nice light to medium metallic colors to show it off and reflect teh light differntly to bring attention to the lines. It also looks better than Gen 1 with black and dark colors because it has a lot of chrome. But for those that want to see Black Ice, I researched it and found it is also on the Saturn Aura, it is called Carbon Flash. I was waiting to see the new colors b4 I order, and now I am disspointed at te lack of truly new ones. I woudl liek to see the new silver when it becomes available, to see if it is as brilliant as teh Mercedes silver. But so far I think it wont be avilable to see the actual chip until the dealers get it, becasue Ithink it is a new formula, I can;t find it on other or previous GM cars. I dont have high expectations becasue it wil be the standard silver used on almost all GM cars rigth down to the cheaper Chevy's, so I doubt GM (or Dupont or whoever is suppying them these days)is going to put much money into the color. If it was a Cadillac exclusive I would have some hope.

FYI the Black Granite and Black Ice are not the same color. The Black Ice has glass in the paint, which give's it a that deep mirror finish.

Glass? Now that is interesting!
Can't wait to see it!
How about the colors for the V?

Black Ice has the largest "chunks" of flake I've ever seen in a Metallic paint- it flat out sparkles in the sun.

Hah, oddly enough, this is EXACTLY what my saleslady said when I was buying the new '08 Malibu for my mother, and the Black Granite was #2 on her list. Chatting about the colors and what we think, she said "You know, it's nice, but to me it just doesn't have that crisp, dark richness of pure black. Sometimes more like black but a few layers of pollen and dust."
I really like it, but yes, even still with "black" in the name it gives off a TOTALLY different look.
