View Full Version : iPod Nano - question regarding connection JohnnySpagz 04-18-08, 04:33 PM Hi All
I finally got around to using my iPod in my car. I have the Nav system, and when I first plugged it in, I believe the unit said something said Front Aux device or something like that. Later that day, my iPod had the GM logo - now everything was fine. Today, I cant seem to get the GM Logo to appear again, therefore using the Aux only and not using the steering wheel controls and it doesnt list the songs on the screen. The only thing that does seem odd is when it is on AUX and I hit the Audio button to toggle back and forth - when I go back to AUX the USB light is lit ant the bottom and there is a line going across the screen as if it is trying to do something. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance! Southern 04-18-08, 06:04 PM I don't see how.............. the plug will only go in one way........ Anyway.
Take the Nano out and try it by itself.
Set it up the way you want it in the car........then put it back in.....
For instance I use it on shuffle only, so I preset the Nano that way........
Works good............. JohnnySpagz 04-18-08, 06:56 PM Thanks for the reply Southern. I just tried it again, and it just doesnt seem to work where I can use the Nav controls. Funny thing was that yesterday, the first day I used it, it was fine. When I plug in the Nano, I do not see the GM connected screen on my Ipod - but yesterday I did...strange. Does the car actually have to be running and not just in the On position? I doubt if that is it. JohnnySpagz 04-18-08, 07:15 PM Update: I went to the Apple website and followed the instructions to reset the Ipod. Just tried it now, and it seems to work. Let's hope it continues to work :). Southern 04-18-08, 10:29 PM Well, that's good to know.... I have had no problems with my Nano. But as I said I do very little with it. Just listen! I'll keep that reset in mind....ya never know. Hope yours keeps on truckin...... carterb 04-18-08, 11:05 PM My daughter connects her iPOD to the wide connector on the adapter plug, and then plugs both the USB and the audio inputs from the other end into the car. The GM logo comes up on her iPOD, and it is now entirely controlled through the NAV screen and stereo system for playing, shuffling. Titles, directories, etc display on the screen. Her iPOD is only a year or two old and works fine... Southern 04-19-08, 12:10 AM There is a difference in iPods. The Nano is a different animal. runs different software. But it does work. dcausey 05-22-08, 09:07 PM [COLOR="Indigo"]I have the same problem - when I initially plugged my nano in (2nd generation), it worked fine. Played the music, could control with the steering wheel and listed the song, artist and album. Suddenly quit working. Dealership told me you have to have a 5th generation or later?? But it worked before! Does anyone know what's going on?
Thanks![/COLOR I picked up an 8 gig version of the current generation Nano and everything seems to work fine with the CTS and I can control everything through the touch screen. The only question I have is if anyone knows a way to switch music lists with the nav screen in the down position? Not a big deal as I can always raise the screen, but if there is a way to jog between lists without raising the screen I would like to know.
My only complaint with the Ipod is actually using Itunes on my PC to copy some CD's over to Itunes. It seems that sometimes it takes Itunes quite a bit of time to recognize that there is a CD in the drive. On several occasions it has decided to quit copying part way through a CD and when I restart the process it asks whether I wish to recopy the tracks already copied; even though I answer No it invariably copies everything the second time adding duplicates to the list. Perhaps it doesn't like Windows XP or some other aspect of my PC... Not a game ender but an annoyance. On the other hand my CTS continues to be flawless. That's a probelm with your PC, not iTunes.
You should make sure you have the latest version of I tunes installed. If it does not check automatically I think you go: options>check for updates.
