Ok, i have searched and I know the DTS and 07-08 CTS can run it. Will 235/55-R17 be too big for an 04 CTS? I know it will fill up the wheel well, but I am concerned with rub.

Has anyone ran this size on their CTS? This will go on my mother in laws car, and she doesn't care about performance. She barely drives the thing. I tried to talk her out of the rims and trade for the 16's I have, but no go. I just found a great deal on some 08 take off tires....

Thanks guys..

It will be tight, but it should fit. Those tires are about 1/2" larger in diameter than the CTS-V sized tires (245/45R18) and I know those fit just fine. The 235 is only about 2/10" closer to the upper A-Arm pinch bolt in front, so the width is fine. The diameter will be about 1/4" closer to hitting the pinch bolt where it overhangs the tire on the top. It will be very close, but what would suck is if you put them on and they start rubbing at speed (as the tire diameter increases very slightly). Measure how much clearance there is with her current tires to the front upper pinch bolt and do the math to be sure.

I have just mounted four new tires on my 04 CTS. 235/55-R17 Perelli P Zero Nero they are taller but they fit great.
The 2008 CTS comes standard with that size tire. No problems so far,and a lot better ride than the 225/50-R17's that were on the vehicle new.

I just put 18" 245/45's on the front of my 03 CTS and much larger 19" 245/45's on the back with no problems (self leveling sport suspension if that matters). Unfortunately shortly after doing so, we are now in the midst of a blizzard. Tirerack.com is a good source for measuring the diameter of tires. Good luck...

Just what I was looking for. Thanks guys.

I will post back when I get them on the car and let you know how it turns out. I am not too worried about getting the car up to speed. It might see 70 once a month, but that is just when I drive it while visiting. It barely hits 30 the rest of the time. But a larger tire should ride better on the crappy roads in small town Oklahoma...

hey guys,
i have an 05 CTS with 20'' HELO's and 30 series tires. I hate the gap in the back and was wondering whats a big but safer size to go? I was thinking 35's or 40's but have to ask the experts on this site

I ran the 235/55/17 all season tire for the winter and had no rubbing issues at all but it does fill up the wheel well in the front. You will not have a problem.

They're the KV5's. 18 on the front, 19 on the rear. 245/45 all around..

Near as I can tell, the 235 55 17's are 27.2" in diameter. I have 245 45 19's on the rear which are 27.8" in diameter and mine do not rub...Attached might be of assistance...
