View Full Version : Did I buy a pirated NAV DVD? Assist please. I purchased the 2008 update NAV DVD p/n 25943606 on Ebay. The DVD case has the correct part number printed on it, but the DVD label has p/n 25943607.
That made me suspicious so I checked the DVD in my computer and the disc shows as a DVD+R DL. The data on it is dated 7/11/07 and the other files are dated 7/18/07.
I opened the MMAIN001.DAT file with Notepad and noted the following information:
X A N A V I
Z E N R I N
X I C - N A V I 0 4 - 0 1
F O R M A T V E R S I O N X 0 6 - 0 0 - 0 0
D A T A V E R S I O N 0 7 / 0 7 / 1 2 / 0 1
N I S S A N P A R T N O . 2 5 9 2 0 C R 9 7 A - 0 0
V 0 1 . 0 1 . 0 0
I wanted to see if anyone who purchased this direct from GMNAV could check their DVD for me and let me know if I've been "buccaneered," or just being paranoid. Thanks. CTSV_510 04-17-08, 09:50 PM does it work? if it's works it's probably not worth getting tooooo upset about. how much did you pay for it? FlyFlip420 04-17-08, 10:06 PM Sir,
I have to inform you that I work with the NAPI(National Association of Pirated Information) and we need to get some information from you reguarding your purchase. As it stands your in violation of many statutes and are laying in hefty fines and possible jailtime. This is a VERY serious offense!! I need you to call me ASAP at my number so we can get this matter taken care of immediatly and limit your fines/jailtime.
Please call me at the number below

:D does it work? if it's works it's probably not worth getting tooooo upset about. how much did you pay for it?
I paid $100 dollars for it.
My concern is that it may not be the most current data if it is pirated. That's why I am hoping someone will confirm the dates or header information. odysseus 04-18-08, 10:17 AM Zenrin is the Cadillac OEM. I don't know what GM charges, but Zenrin charges $190 for their DVD map disks. The Infinity and Nissan disks seem to work flawlessly (ver 6.x). If it works, you got a deal. No worries. nickc50310 04-18-08, 10:55 AM I had a guy on here try to sell me a burned one for $200!! AHAHAH!
Now, I do need a new nav disk... who with a DVD burner is gonna hook me up?
PM ME! Hello,
Do you mind me asking what the version number on this DVD is? Is it the 6.5 version? Cuz I see there is a 7.3 for Nissans and all that, and i heard that they are interchangable. The disc say's it's version 7.0
I agree if the data is the most current, it is a good deal. Just don't want an older DVD copied with new part numbers. I seriously doubt ANY manufacturer provides DVD+R discs. They are pressed in a disc manufacturing plant.
What you got was pirated. TotalEclipse31 04-18-08, 05:48 PM wsup w/ that nav disc? LOL. Im with nick. I have an 05 and would love a new disc. I take it you can burn them with no problems and the nav reads the burnt discs? I have a DVD burner. chris1020 04-18-08, 06:14 PM My 06 has been at the dealer 3 times in a month and I've received 2 discs, both that look like DVD-R from the NAV center and when it works it says I'm at LA int. airport but I'm in Alexandria VA. They have changed the head unit and it still does not work. I just got it back yesterday and they say I have the wrong disc and have to call the NAV center. I have not checked the part number but the number you have is supposed to be correct. I'm starting to get pissed. FlyFlip420 04-18-08, 07:08 PM LOL...they are morons...there is nothing wrong except operator errror.....IT takes time to see where its located and you need to manually set it sometimes, then it locks on and everything is great....Stoooopid dealer when I first got my new nav disc, It was stuck on LAX for a few blocks. I was like WTF? Then, at some point, I looked down and it was on my current location. The disks hae copy protection and on them so they are not easily ripped, but are rippable none the less. I got both 6.5 and 7.3, yet I don't even have a gps in my car haha. I am working on that odysseus 04-19-08, 10:20 AM LA is the programmed default 'home' spot for the CTS Nav. For all GPS receivers, it takes approximately 6 minutes to download a complete almanac from the GPS satellites, and get a fix on your current position (called a cold start), if it hasn't been powered on before, or has moved significantly from it's last known position. From then out, you're lat/lon location is stored on the Nav, and it will lock on much quicker (called a warm start, where it already knows your current position, and where each satellite is, so it knows which ones to look for). It takes three satellites for a 2D fix, and four for a 3D fix (with altitude).
If it's still not getting a fix, it's because it's not seeing satellites, which could mean your antenna is bad, or the wire or connection to it is bad. Go to the Nav setup screen which shows which satellites you're locked on to. Most likely you're not seeing any (or less than 3, which would mean your antenna view is blocked). |
