I need to replace my alt tensioner pulley, it has a bad bearing. I got the pulley and was wondering if there was a specific way to get the whole thing off without messing anything up. I am mechanically inclined, however i have never done a tensioner pulley. Thanks

oh yeah, 05 cts... is it just the one bolt on the whole assembly that needs to come out to get the thing off? Then i can get the pulley off????????????

I have an 03 and did mine.. and it we have the same setup it is very easy. Once you get a wrench or socket, on the nut the whole pulley swings over to the drivers side so you can remove the belt. Remove the nut and the silver piece and it slides right off.. About a 15 minute job really..

Im all done now, but you didnt take the whole assembly off to get the pulley off? I took the whole thing off... awful job.. there are two hidden bolts underneath the alternator that you have to take the wheel well out to get to.

Sounds like I'm too late to help but....for an '03 3.2 It looks pretty simple in the service manual. Literally four steps:
1) Remove Belt
2) Lossen the drive belt tensioner bolts
3) Remove upper bolt
4) Remove the tensioner and the lower bolt

The book always makes it seem easy doesn't it?
