Every so ofton I notice my car seems to "hesitate" and loose power, but if you give it more gas it will downshift and have plenty again. I did injector cleaner, cleaned my air filter....At first I thought it could have been bad gas, but I have been through a couple tanks since then. My cars an 05 3.6L w 30,000 Could this have something to do with the computer? Thought I heard something about its being able to "learn" the way you drive basically and sometimes needs to be reset. Any advice would be great.:alchi:

I think mine has the same issue, but I actually like it relaxed like that. I would like to know if there IS a way to reset any computer learning though. In case I need to teach it some new tricks..

Computer may be possible. Not the first thing that comes to my mind but you can try since it is easy. Disconnect your battery cables for a few minutes and put them back on. This will reset it I believe.
I am sure the computer has it's own backup battery to retain its data. The only way to truly reset is to flash it.
If you are cruising along in top gear, bear in mind, there is not as much torque at those low engine speeds.
this trans seems to be programmed to hold high gears a little longer before downshift. I can understand it as this car is fighting for the fuel economy it has managed to be rated at.

The computer doesn't have a battery. It has ROM (read-only memory). The ROM is the memory that is flashed into the hardware. This can not be changed unless the ROM chip is flashed, so are are on the right track about that. But disconnecting the battery cables for ~20 minutes and then reconnecting will "reboot" the computer and restore original settings, thus washing out any possible little bugs. Anyone who uses a computer on a regular basis knows that a reboot can do wonders to a computer "acting funny".
IMO, such a simple possible fix is worth a try.
Note: You will lose all your radio/DIC configurations and seat memory(if applicable).
I have tried unplugging the battery on other cars; it did nothing as far as I can tell. I still maintain that it's an urban legend :)
