Push your truck, just kidding. My Escalade gets better fuel mileage than both of my Grand Cherokee's do, and they are 2000 lbs lighter with a much smaller engine.

i'm getting about 15 mpg and i'm not too upset with it, but if there were a couple things i could do to help it, that would be cool.

It's really difficult to increase the MPG. You may want to concentrate on not letting it get worse. Your 'Lade came with synthetic gear oils, don't let anyone put conventional oil in the rear end or transaxle. You should use a high quality synthetic tranny fluid and engine oil. Mobil 1 is good, but probably should be changed like traditional oil as its additive wear out. Some of the high end synthetics can probably handle extended miles and maintain good MPG.

Maintain reasonable tire pressure and choose tires with good rolling resistance values.

Make sure the brakes are working as they should be. Sticking/dragging brakes can eat up a lot of gas. If you have the ability to switch off the 4WD, run in 2WD.

And of course, drive like there is an egg under the gas pedal.

How is your escalade getting better gas then you grand cherokee's? I get around 16 mpg in my grand while only 13 in the lade. What secret are you using??? With the gas prices going up so much we all must know. hehehe

Low restriction muffler/exhaust, K&N airfilter, Iridium plugs? Take out any unnecessary weight from the back like crap that's been there for awhile. Don't jackrabbit start. Drive like Granny on Sunday. ;)

has anyone noticed any gains from an exhaust or airfilter?

I did pick up a couple mpg's with the K@N and a turbomuffler on my big-assed Grand Marquis. Problem is that I found myself enjoying hearing the exhaust so I drove more aggressively and lost the mpg. :rolleyes2

I have (2) Grand Cherokee Overland's, they have the 4.7 HO engine, one is worked and one is stock, the stock one gets 10.6 around town, the worked one get 11.2 around town, they both get about 19 on the highway. My Escalade gets 12.0 - 12.2 around town and 19.6 on the highway.

My 2002 6.0 gets 11mpg around town and maybe 17 on the freeway; this is with a magnaflow muffler(dual 2 1/2 in, dual 3inch out connecting to orig. Y pipe It feels like I lost a bit of low end power, but seems much faster on the freeway). I gained about 1mpg from it. I also have 22's and punch it on the start off. :want:

hcvone - how are you getting 19.6 mpg's on the highway? We currently have 3 Escalades in my family (me 2002, Dad 2002, 2004, Sister 2003) and none of them have ever gone over 17.5. Granted, mine is Supercharged but the others are stock. The best mpg's I can get these days is around 16.2 highway and 12 city - and these figures are with me driving like an old lady. :crying:

I get 10.9 or 11.0 MPG city driving.

My mods are the following:

Predator programmer
Granatelli Mass airflow sensor
K&N replacement filter
Bosch +4 sparkplugs
MSD Superconductor wires.

We have been playing with LS1 Edit, trimming fuel and playing with the timing, I was getting 17-17.5 on the highway before, just got back from a 250 mile cruise each way, 19.5 on the way out and 19.6 on the way back, the air/fuel is just about perfect at 11.7-11.9. The guy doing my tuning who has an 03' Escalade with long tube headers is getting just over 20.6 mpg on the highway, of course above 70 mph will decrease this number. :(

One more thing, I have Amsoil synthetic throughout, engine, trans, transfer case and axles, I am sure that is adding to the mileage, and I rechecked the computer numbers to the gallons put into the truck. :)

how loud is your K&N filter?? i've always used K&N but someone on here said it was really loud.

No noticable noise increase with just a drop in K&N

what about the k&N system with the pipe and everything?? is that much louder??

i don't mind a little noise, i just don't want enough that makes it a hassle inside the truck.

Are you still getting this kind of mpg? What octane do you use?

I got 19.2 on a trip last weekend, I ran for over 80 mph for a while (long while) and that took away some mpg. I only run 93 octane, either Sunoco, Mobil or Amaco

Amazing. BTW, I have gotten 20.3 with my '02 Overland using lowest octane available.

That is good, I never got over 20 mpg in either Overland, close but not over. I run lower octane in my green Overland when I have too, but the red one had a lot of mods and I have to run at least 93.
