OK, people, here is another one----if I take a left turn, the driver's seat goes right & if I take a right turn, yeah, you guessed it, the seat shifts left.

In other words, it's loose--very slightly, but loose.

I took it to the dealer & the service advisor said they checked it out & it is normal. There should be some play for the power seat adjustment.

I say, what bullshit, I've had many cars with power seats & never had this annoying problem.

Just curious, has anyone else have this problem?

BTW, I WILL be taking it back to the dealer anyway.

Its a common problem apparently with a bunch of cars. Several of my fraternity brothers BMW's do that.

gen 1 cars has 2 bolts holding them down at the rear. can you try to tighten them yourself?

I just tried that, no help, the shift appears to be in the front part of the seat, the back is secure.

Thx, anyway.

Identical problem on my Acura when it was new. Maybe abut an eighth inch of play between the two slider brackets. Dealer solution: New seat.
I feel your pain, too. It was the most annoying thing ever to me at the time.

the front may just slip into a bracket. gotta be a way to tighten that up. tack welding seems a bit extreme. i dont know....i mean, you can try a homemade fix or find another dealer. can you jam a penny in there haha

On my 2008 I can feel a shift with brisk acceleration and on some turns. I can get the seat back to shift slightly in all directions by hand. The passenger side does not have the same amount of play. I'll be taking it to the dealer for this and for back doors that often require me to climb in the opposite side to open them from the inside. Nice:( I have been too frustrated and depressed to post all of my drama from the beggining.... O well. My intuition said go with the 2 year lease. At least I got that right. It's a shame because it is a ridiculously beautiful car, in and out.

PS
I’m burying my issues and frustration in this post because I have a similar problem as the topic and just needed to vent. I am not trying to dissuade others from buying nor start a firestorm.

I hope that you can get that fixed. It is definetly not a problem with my CTS. I really push mine hard, just because lit so much fun! Both front seats are rock solid in all situations. I feel for you because it is imposible to to really drive your car if the seats are throwing you all over the place. It is not fun, and it certainly not safe. I hope that your dealer can fix your problem so you can start enjoying driving the car the way the designed it to be driven!

Alpet,

I had the same shifty driver's seat, exactly as you described it. It was only one item on a long list of defects that I took to my dealer (my CTS has been in the shop for 3 of the past 4 weeks, so far sevice techs have logged 500 miles on my odometer). My dealer replaced the "seat track adjuster assembly," and it seems to have cured the shifty seat. I'll know for sure after I get my CTS back, again, later this week or next (DTS loaner for now).

If the seat tracks are warped, bent, or otherwise misshapen, just tell your dealer to quit messing around and replace the whole assembly.

I had the same problem. Really pissed me off. Dealer told me it was normal. Yikes!

I inflated the lumbar and it stopped. Don't ask me why but it worked.

Please try.

On my last 3 Cadillacs the driver also seat shifted slightly. Is slight but annoying. Also, the gap between the center console and the drivers seat is wider than that between the passenger seat and console. Go figure

Okay, so I've actually since this on other cars as well...It's the seat track and the seat bracket that slides into the track....somehow one of them (most likely the track) got slightly warped....My fathers old G35 had it, and so did my 330ci (my fat friends caused that from plopping in all the time)....so tell your dealer to try and replacing the seat track...that should solve your problem...this is covered under warranty...and if they don't replace it tell them you will keep bringing it back until they fix it, and if they dont you can just file for a lemon law claim in which you get a brand new car after bringing it back for the same problem i think 3 times in less than 6 months....
